Live album or Greatest Hits compilation? Doesn't take a genius to pick the winner there. In fact, I'd bet Stone Cold Classics (which featured some Paul songs) outsold ROTC in the States. Really, it's all so very tiresome. At least make the debate original. |

Gene: Yeah, but this guy is really onto something. I just watched that DVD Return of the Champions again, and it just hit me. What are we doing without Ace and Paul? Paul: Making a lot more money... Thats right, they want FREDDIE! not Rodgers butchering the songs. The true fans know that theres no Queen without Freddie Mercury. Brian and Roger have made the dumbest mistake of their lives when they replaced Freddie with that fool that cant even sing the right notes! Yeah, Queen should die forever. Be gone with Queen. Let's all turn into Paris Hilton fans. Die Stepfords. Freddie brought himself to death. There are more people who support Q&PR than there is people who do not! Get over it and let them just play the damn music, don't like it, don't buy it! Simple as that! read this quote. "people get so upset about these things, it's just a bloody record." remember who said that you anti-QPR people? Also, nobody has the right or the decision to say "anyone who like this isn't a true Queen fan", i mean come on, who made you the judge? Nobody did. To say someone who likes QPR is not a true Queen fan is just stupid. |

People have yet to realize that Paul Rodgers resurrected "Queen". No Paul Rodgers = no Queen, no tour, no album. Last time I checked Freddie Mercury was dead and thus can't tour anymore. 1/2 of Queen (Q+PR) is better than no Queen in my opinion. Face it, people and be happy. |

Freddie was a one-off - no doubt about that - but Paul is certainly not bad! (Only Bad Company, haha xD) I really like Q+PR, as it gives ME a chance to see Brian and Roger perform all the fantastic songs! As I was born i 1990, I didn't have a chance to ever go to a concert! Paul does the job really good, and who says he's out of tune?! He's not - he'a a great performer (though not like Freddie). Brian does all the stage act, running up and down the catwalk ;oD I like their idea, and they bring the music back to life. I cannot describe how I would feel, if I knew I would never ever get the chance to see them live! I may only get half of Queen, but it really IS the very Brian May and Roger Taylor, who sang and wrote all the fantastic songs back then, when I wasn't even thought of! Now, I just hope that I really will get to see them live... If not in Scandinavia, then in Germany, England - I don't care - I've just GOT TO see them! GO QUEEN+PR! |

Yes. But his solo work shows why Queen were were such a collective group. Mr. Bad Guy is typical 1980's pop, with ridiculous drum machines and synths. About three tracks on it are worth listening to, the rest are pretty dire. Barcelona borders on genius. 'In My Defence' and the 1993 version of 'Time' are worth listening to. The current CD/DVD releases really are scraping the barrel- which is unsurprising. At least the recent Queen compilations have mainly good songs on them. And, he may not be the best singer, but Brian's solo stuff is by far the best. |

Just one question, what's the point of this discussion? THIS is better, No THAT is better. But NO because this isn't like THAT... NO ONE, will ever agree here, because Queen was made of 4 MEMBERS, and NO ONE here loves Queen for the SAME reasons. Some of you (most of you) love Freddie, for he was the leadsinger and got all the attention. He was full of charisma, and his simple presence was able to drive people crazy. Let alone his unique talent as a singer, composer, artist. An other part of you loves Brian, because he is probably one of the greatest guitarists of all times and composer as well, his fingers seem to make their way magically on his guitar. Same reasons musically for Roger, whose talent is absolute and, say, personally I love him because I find him funny, but that's very subjective. AND, some of you love John, because he's not only an AMAZINGLY talented bass player, but also the quiet force of the band. Others love them ALL and others don't like them at all. Those ones are stupid but that's another issue um. Anyways, all this to say that you should be able to listen to everyone's opinion without starting agruments that will lead NOWHERE. You make no decisions about the band. Brian and Roger (and John I hope um...) do. Freddie did. And it's been very rarely disappointing. Personally, I think Brian and Roger shouldn't have made the decision to record another album without Freddie, nor even tour... even if this, I can understand because it gave them the opportunity to please their fans and share something with them. For me Queen died with Freddie, because I'm utterly and passionately in love with every aspect of his person, even though I have the utmost respect for Bri, Roger and John. But I won't start a war for this, there's no point!! Paul Rogers, well, I've never wanted to listen to what he did with Rog and Bri, but I trust them, and I know they wouldn't have chosen him if he wasn't worthwile. Some people liked it, no? That's something. My cousin liked it, he loves Queen since way longer than me, and believe me, when I was about 5 or 6 years old, he already had Freddie posters everywhere in his bedroom. It was... what... 15 years ago. And I wouldn't have wanted to start arguing with him about the fact that, someone else took Freddie's place, somehow, because no one ever will, and sang his songs and stepped on stage with leather pants when for me only Freddie could do it with style? No? I said what I thought, he said what he thought, and that was it. Now I say it again, I don't like Q+PR, but some of you do. Good for you, you enjoyed yourself. So did I a few hours ago when I watched the WWRY gig in Montreal. Isn't this what matters? While I'm not a fan of Opera in the least, I have to tap the breaks on Barcelona! I mean, it's OK, but compared to other Operas, it falls quite short. That said, I listen to it more than any other Opera CDs I own (i.e. Marriage of Figaro), primarily because it's much shorter. But I can clearly see the difference between Barcelona and a real Opera. I really like Mr. Bad Guy much more, because it's more like the music I listen to. I'm sure someone who primarily listens to Opera or Classical music would simply shrug Barcelona off as a gimmick. It would be interesting to hear their take. |
mike hunt 02.10.2006 23:52 |
"microwave", who gives a rats ass what opera fans think of barcelona!...if it was good enough for cabelle to sing it's good enough for us to love. The song barcelona has been sung by a few real opera singers. Need I say more!...opera fans tend to think their better than everyone else, so yes they would look at it as trivial, even great singers like sara brightman and andrea broccelli, grosh groben arn't good enough for them. Barcelona isn't for the opera buffs, it's for people who enjoy all styles of music, for us it's simply a masterpiece!...remember most opera singers don't write their own material, but barcelona was written by freddie and mike moran. |
