Thought I'd give you all a reminder of where I am nowadays. Well I'm not in Lancashire anymore I ain't even living in England. Here I am living in Westland, Michigan. I met this girl in February through and I hate to admit it MySpace. I had a page on there for ages and mostly ignored it. This girl wrote me and I thought she seemed nice. We exchanged endless messages and decided we had to meet. So we met in Portugal and (ahhh) fell in love. I then came over in June to the States and on my penultimate night here proposed. She said yes. We arranged for me to come over for three months so here I am. We plan to arrange for a Fiance Visa for me and hopefully have a Spring 2007 wedding. This means of course I will be living over here. Although she has expressed an interest in living in England later on. This is why I haven't been around lately and frankly after reading the dross and shite I am not missing much. Although I am really missing Soccer. The sports channels over here are amazing if you like Football and Baseball. Which I don't. I get my fix of Premiership soccer once a week. But my team play in the Championship (Go Preston!) I've also discovered Flavor of Love! What a bloody great show. Anyhoo, I'll leave you all to get on, but know that I am happy and loving America. |

Congrats! Don't feel bad admitting you met through myspace. Erin and I met through QZ. I have to disagree with Flava of Love though!! |
AspiringPhilosophe 12.09.2006 11:26 |
Wow, that's excellent! Congratulations on your engagement! Michigan really isn't that bad of a state....as long as you stay out of Detroit/Flint/Saginaw area, you are fine. :-) Like Pieter said, don't be ashamed of the meeting through the internet thing. Erin and Pieter met through here, and I met a very special person through QZ as well.... So you are in good company! |
iGSM 12.09.2006 11:50 |
Yeah, mySpace can be good! *marries World War 1 veteran* I knew his boyish good looks felt slightly '1910's' to me. |

All my best wishes to you, Banquo. I wonder if it's infective for Queenzoners to meet overseas partners on the net and emigrate... If you only keep calling football football and not soccer :) |
Haystacks Calhoun II 12.09.2006 12:42 |
The best thing to ever come out of Michigan is an empty Greyhound bus.... |
Sir Archie Leach 12.09.2006 13:17 |
Well bugger me. That pint is going to get mighty dusty at the Reform Club Banquers old bean. Here let you into a secret... That old rascal Flashy is getting spliced next month and all. Shotgun wedding and all that. Anyway congrats on your good fortune you old dog. |

Why in the hell do we call it soccer anyway? American football should be named something else and we should call soccer football right? |

Westland...pretty much the only living space in Detroit...I'm on the other side of the state. Not far from Ann Arbor, Go Blue. |
Banquo 12.09.2006 16:20 |
I love Ann Arbor and its looking like we will be setting up home near there next spring in Ypsilanti. Anyway as I like lists here is the good things and bad things about living here............ Good Things My Fiancee The Colbert Report Burrito's The Steaks Tucker on MSNBC The Fall Getting cashback for recycling Flava Of Love Watching Canadian TV The Weather Bad Things Too many commercials Not enough FOOTBALL (Sorry everyone I'm so used to calling it Soccer now) Shitty Beer All the bank notes are the same size Taco Bell "restuarants" The Weather All in all I'm loving it. |

sonofabitch...I gotta use the new borad to post, muthafuck |
Bohardy 12.09.2006 18:12 |
With a bit of luck people will stop confusing us now, Banquardy. Or are you Bohanquo? I forget. Good luck to you fella. Nice to hear you're in love and loving it. But please remember where you're from. As well as the soccer/football thing, I'm sure banknote is an Americanism (although I can't think what the Brit equivalent is right now). And please temporarily ignore my signature... |

I want to see if Banquo still has the weather on his like list after he experiences a Michigan winter!!! bwuahahhahahaaaa!!!! You might like the snow the first few times, but after that.....faaaaagit about dit!! Yep, all our dollar bills are the same size, you just have to read the little numbers on them that say $1, $5, $10, etc. ;) Score one for America with Banquo here!!! woooooopeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! |
***Marial-B*** 12.09.2006 18:49 |
Congrats dear ^^. I'm happy to see people getting together and getting married, I wish you the best :D. And yes, we agree: Baseball is crappy xD |
Bohardy 12.09.2006 19:08 |
I think the weather was on both his like and his dislike list, Lisser. For some bizarre, Northern reason. Anyway. Not only are your dollar-bills the same size, they're all exactly the same colour and design. WTF's that all about? When I was in the States, it used to take me about 7 weeks - standing at a checkout, riffling through my wallet - to find the right note to use to pay for whatever. You crazy Yanks. Try colour-coding. Please. |
.DeaconJohn. 12.09.2006 19:24 |
Congratulations, you lucky git. I aughta get me a mySpace page... |
AspiringPhilosophe 12.09.2006 21:19 |
Banquo...trust me, you haven't seen Michigan until you've seen it in winter. But I'm sure you'll survive it! You are far enough away over there that you won't get too much of the lake effect snow and things, but it does get damn cold. But that's what the fiance is for right? To keep you warm! Yipsilanti is a nice place, home of one of my university rivals, Eastern Michigan University. Trust me though, stay out of Detroit if you can help it. I've been there twice for a few hours each time, and that was enough. It's not bad if you know exactly where you are going, don't go driving around like you are trying to find something, and leave before dark. Again, congratualations on the engagement! |
