Here is the first chapter of the Freddie romance fan fiction that some of you have requested. Comments and sugestions can be at the end. To start the second chapter, I will post it in this same thread. Thanks Chapter 1 Birthday Surprise My birthday was coming up in a few more days and I couldn’t wait! My mom asked what kind of cake I wanted, and I made a list of all the presents I desired. However, there was one thing I forgot to add to this extensive list of items. I always wanted to meet Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of queen. It was one of my biggest dreams, but I somehow felt that I would never get to meet him. Even if I did get a chance, I would feel a little nervous. What if he reacted funny about my blindness? “Oh well... You might not get to meet him anyway! So what’s the big deal?” I thought to myself, as I slowly walked over to my dresser to spray on a perfume. My thoughts drifted away as I took my time brushing my hair. I did have a crush on him. But why? There were rumors circling around that he preferred men over women. If this is true, then why am I drooling over a guy who wouldn’t even show the slightest interest in me? I knew it was crazy, but hey! A girl can dream. Can’t she? One of my closest friends, Anahita, kept on telling me about her famous brother. That made me stop brushing my hair to think a minute. I wondered who he was. She lived in England, so I thought about who it could be from England that was famous. “Paul McCartney? No. It would have been on the news or something or in a biography. Mick Jagger? No. That would have been on the news too. It’s 1978 for goodness sakes! Things like that are on the news or in the papers all the time!” A couple days went by and didn’t really know how to express my wishes on meeting Freddie for my birthday. Somehow though, I overheard a conversation in the living room about something. All I could hear was mom’s voice. “Yeh. She’d really love that! Okay. I won’t say anything. I promise. Okay. Bye now. I’ll see you there.” And I heard the click of the phone receiver hitting the cradle. “”What was that all about?” I wondered to myself. “Must be very important, or special.” I kind of felt guilty for ease-dropping. Well, maybe it wasn’t ease-dropping. Just overhearing. I went out in to the kitchen to get a glass of iced tea and the phone rang again. This time, I went to answer. It was Anahita... “Hello girl! What have you been up to?” I asked. “Nothing much. Mom is having us all over for tea at her place, and I really don’t feel like going out today. It’s been raining here off and on. How’s the weather there?” She asked inquisitively. “It’s sunny here. It’s not too hot and not too cold. It’s just perfect.” I commented. “Well, shucks! I wish I was in America right now instead of being in England suffering through all this awful rain!” she laughed. Our conversation took on a more interesting turn as I pestered her to tell me who her brother was. “You’ll never believe it if I told you! she said playfully. “You’ll just have to find out one day. He’s coming to the party. It will be your birthday surprise. That night, I dreamed of who this mysterious guy was. Not to mention he was famous! Out of all the imaginings I had, I had multiples about Freddie, wish it was him. |

Chapter 2 Thanks for all the compliments. And here's chapter 2. More coming soon. Chapter 2 This Isn’t Happening! Is it? The next few days were spent working. I worked as a receptionist for a firm called” Starlight academy. I’ve gotten good compliments about my typing skills and phone voice. My boss recommended me to a higher possession. I was thrilled at the chance to get better pay, since I was only making five dollars an hour. That’s not much. So I was glad when Mr. Rucker, my boss, called me in to explain to me that he was moving me up the ladder. I would be receiving 10 dollars per hour! “Cool!” I thought. “Now, I can get my kitten and possibly get enough money to buy that new record player I’ve been wanting!” The needle, by this time, was getting pretty warn out from playing my extensive collection of queen albums, and I desperately needed a new turn table. It was an old one, given to me by my grandpa, who had it when he was little. You can imagine how old that thing was! So, after toiling for eight hours, I went out to “Seers” department store to try and find a new record player, but the manager said they were all sold out! Darn! The rest of the day was spent sulking over not being able to play the newest Queen album, “News Of the World”, which I bought a couple days previously before it broke. before I went to sleep though, mom came in to the room. “I have something you are going to dream about for the next week before your 24th birthday! she chattered excitedly. “What mom! I taunted playfully. “Is it something wonderful? Or are you fibbing to me?” “Now, would I fib to you?” She questioned with a teasing error to her voice. “Okay. No you wouldn’t, I said with a smile. Now tell me what it is!” I could tell she was grinning from ear to ear as she spoke these words. “For your birthday, you are going to England and meeting Anahita there!” I couldn’t believe what she was saying! “You’re not serious!” I shrieked. “Yes. You are going in a week from today. So we need to prepare for the journey. You are staying for two weeks. So, we need to get everything together.” I still was in shock over what she was telling me! “You are totally serious! Right?” “Yes. she said with a laugh. I am serious. You are going!” She was right. I dreamed all night about what my vacation was going to turn out like. Would I have a good time? Of course I would! Come on! It’s England, for gosh sakes! The next week was spent preparing for the two weeks I would spend in England. I had to get some new clothes. I mean, if I was going to England, I would need at least a couple dresses or something! So mom took me out to the Dayton mall, where with her help, I selected a few dresses. One was poofy and long. It was one of those flowing dresses that girls wear to their junior and senior proms. It was blue, with gold sequences all over it and lacy frilly sleeves. The second dress was long as well, but it wasn’t as casual. It was long and straight, with purple flowers on it. And the dress itself was white. I had a couple pair of black dress shoes at home, so I decided on not spending money on them. Black goes with everything. At least that’s what sighted people had been telling me for years, so I just went with what they said and trusted their instincts. Let me tell you though, you can’t always depend on the sighted! My sister once picked out an outfit for me and sent me to school looking like a total geek from a horror movie! I had on yellow socks, orange pants, and a neon green shirt, which I didn’t know about. To my utter humiliation, all the sighted kids, who walked down the hall, laughed at me. I thought it was for the simple reason that they didn’t understand my situation of being blind, but a teacher walked over to me and told me, in a polite tone, what I had on. I screamed so loud that the hall echoed and more kids laughed at me. So, needless to say, I didn’t always ask for advice on what to wear from a sighted person that I coul |
