So in light of the recent "best of" for Freddie, I decided to make ones for both Brian and Roger. CD1 featuring their singles, best album tracks, etc and CD2 featuring b-sides, rarities, etc.
I finished the Brian one yesterday and here's what I came up with (keep in mind I can only include stuff I actually have on CD already, not other cool stuff that might be floating around out there.)
"The Red Special Chronicles: The Very Best of Brian May Solo"
CD1:
1- Back to the Light
2- Driven By You
3- Star Fleet
4- The Business (USA radio mix)
5- On My Way Up
6- The Amazing Spider-Man (mastermix)
7- Why Don't We Try Again
8- Nothin' But Blue
9- Cyborg
10- All the Way from Memphis
11- What Are We Made Of
12- Resurrection (single edit)
13- Too Much Love Will Kill You
14- One Rainy Wish
15- Dream of Thee
16- Another World
CD2:
1- Hot Patootie
2- Ride to Win (early version of 'Resurrection')
3- F.B.I.
4- Maybe Baby
5- Only Make Believe
6- (Marie's the Name of) His Latest Flame
7- Let Me Out
8- Love Token (explicit version)
9- Tie Your Mother Down feat. Slash (live from the Tonight Show)
10- Nothin' But Blue (guitar version)
11- Otro Lugar
12- I'm Scared (alternate version)
13- My Boy
14- Just One Life (guitar version)
15- Too Much Love Will Kill You (guitar version)
16- Blues Breaker
17- Who Wants To Live Forever w/ Jennifer Rush
18- Last Horizon (live version from 'Brixton Academy' album)
I haven't come up with Roger's yet.
How different would your Brian "best of" be from mine?
I wish I could help you. I only have back to the light, starflete, and live at brigston from Brian. I think it would also be awsome though to put some of the songs Brian sang lead on with queen, like someday one day. You never hear that, or sweet sister. What do you think? They should come out with the best of Brian and Roger. Smile.
This may not be a popular opinion, but from where I'm standing, the words 'best of' and 'Roger Taylor solo' would suggest a very short CD, or even a recording of silence.
There won't be a RT best of i'm afraid.
His solo efforts weren't very successful.
With the material Brian made over the years you could fill a boxset bigger than Freddie's.
So it's more likely that he will get a best of...
There should be a a double c.d. "best of" set for a Roger Taylor best of that should include both solo AND Cross songs AND three new songs as well as a solo artist. I think he should also tour behind it as well. That is the only one at this time should be done. I think it would be fine if he did one or two solo albums and tours later on before he dies off.
I think Brian May should also have a double c.d. "best of" set with three new songs on it as well but that he also needs to come out with at least two more solo studio l.p.s and tour behind them as well. That "best of" shouldn't come out for a while though.
