I am just watching Caracas 81 and Brian breaks a string during the KQ solo. It's quite funny. He twists it and pulls it off but the solo sounds really funny because of it!
Oh my xD I've only seen the clip on youtube, called "Brian's worst musical night" or somthing like that :b
From 2005, as far as I remember. Gotta get some more material xD
the worst would have to be at the glasgow barrowlands in 1994 when he was on the back to the light tour and he fell of stage while playing ,then got back up and continued pure class

See Live at Wembley '86, during Crazy Little Thing Called Love (at the end) Brian loses the plettro (i don't know the word in english :-)). He's very very funny because his face during play it's very strange! :-)

I thought it was a sixpence that he used.
Yeah, there's a couple songs on the Milton Keynes video where he pulls out the John Birch copy (the one with the natural finish). I remember being stunned to see that, because I read in Guitar Player where he said he had thrown it off the stage and it went to pieces (he tells this story again on the Greatest Video Hits Vol. 1 DVD commentary).
The thing that made it so suprising was that the GP interview was right around the time of Hot Space, so it must have only just happened in the preceding few months prior to the interview, if Brian had it on hand at Milton Keynes.
I imagine Brian has broken strings on a number of occasions, as most guitarists do.
The thing I find amazing is that he's able to play with those ultra light strings AT ALL. You'd think he'd be breaking strings left and right as soon as he breaks into those heavy riffs, like Tie Your Mother Down or the ending of WWRY.
