If Brian had died in 1974 from the hepatitis that he contracted from the tainted needle for the medcial shots he received before going on tour to australia...do you guys still think that they'd have the same legacy as they have today?...Its hard picturing Queen without Brian, and we wouldnt have "We will rock you" either... Comments??? |

I would have hated he world - seriously! What about all the solos?! There would be so many songs missing - Long Away, Sleeping on The Sidewalk, The Show Must Go On... No-one But You... It would have been the end of the world! Though, we wouldn't know wat we were missing out on, but still.. Scary thought.. |

What a stupid question, no offense. Of course they wouldn't be anything like the Queen we know. It's not just losing a vocalist and significant song writer, as well as a creative and skilled guitar legend... It's the Red Special! For me, no other element, including all of Freddie's talents, defines Queen's greatness to me as the lovely different sounds created only by that magnificent guitar. If forced to choose between keeping Brian, but losing his guitar, or losing Brian, but a replacement inheriting his guitar, I'd keep the guitar. That is no knock at all on Brian. That fireplace based combination of junk, combined with a Treble Booster, AC 30 and sometimes the Deacy Amp, is the greatest creation in human history in the category of audio. |

I can not even think about that.... I just can't. The rock industry wouldn't be the same without his guitar sound. His style. Queen wouldn't feel right. Some people wouldn't mind if they carried on without Brian. But they tend to mind when it comes to "replacing" Freddie recently. |

zaiga 30.08.2006 03:27 |
Had Brian died in 1974 I'm sure that would have been the end of Queen. Freddie would have become a famous house decorator, John would have become someone who repairs second hand radios and Roger would have become a downtown chewing gum bum. The world wouldn't have had Bohemian Rhapsody, we would all sing "You Never Walk Alone" after football matches instead of WATC, and "Ole, ole, ole" before, instead of WWRY. Elvis wouldn't have died in 1977 and the gap between black and white music wouldn't have been smaller thanks to AOBTD. The Iron Curtain wouldn't have fallen and the Cold War would be still going. Some good things would have come out of that as well though. For instance, the Challenger would not have crashed, China would have become a democracy, Al Gore would have been elected president instead of George W. Bush, and, more importantly, Vanilla Ice would have never had a hit with "Ice, Ice, Baby"! |

Let's have imagination: If Brian died in 1974, after his hepatitis illness, so I think that Queen wouldn't have gone on. I think that Fred wouldn't have been bad enough to do that. So the world would have never listened Bohemian Rhapsody nor Night At The Opera. And today, maybe Queen could be taken as a cult-rock band, with "Queen" and the excellent "Queen II" as the only audio-recordings. Let's have imagination again: If Fred wouldn't have died in 1991 of AIDS (nethier Brian), so the band surely would have gone on in the 90' and the 00' probably. And we could have Queen with us. And now, let's stop with our imagination and let's say the truth: Brian didn't die in 1974, Fred died in 1991 of AIDS, and 13 years after, Brian May said "Oh we're going to do a tour again with our friend Paul Rodgers, it's like the ashes of the Queen phoenix revive" And here's when I say: I could never forgive Brian May. PS: Tell me if I have a gramatical mistake, I'm from Argentina and I have to learn! |
DeeEmm 03.09.2006 04:03 |
If Brian May died in 1974, the other three would have gone on a Queen + Eric Clapton tour and record new albums nontheless, ignoring criticism and other annoying little things. |

When Brian was in the hospital there was chance that he might lose his arm because of the gangrene. The band told him that they wouldn't find another guitar player, and end Queen.. So if Brian would've died, there wouldn't have been Queen, except for Queen I and Queen II. Not many people would remember them because they had 2 very small hits with Keep yourself Alive and Seven Seas of Rhye. They would've been just one of the so many one hit wonders of the 70s. Freddie would've recorded a solo album which ended as a huge commercial flop. And eventually he got back to his art, and became a clothier. And started the minor fashion house Mercury. And opened his first boutique in 1979 in London. Roger would've still been playing drums and guitars in some small bands, and even had a top 20 hit in 1986 with the song "Lay Back in my Arms" with his band "Carole Galore & The Kinky Lesbians". He did got back to college to study biology but never went back to the idea of becoming a dentist. Roger is now the owner of a recording studio in Surrey. John Deacon would've stopped playing bass in 1982, Before that he played in the band 'Crosstalk' with Roger (from 1974-1976). |
