Naw... On VH1 Rock Honors Roger said that Paul was "pretty much Freddie's favourite singer".
In a 1989 interview Freddie is asked to his favourite singers and he is mentioning Aretha Franklin as his all time favourite, so who knows best Roger or Fredie Himself?

Then you are not thinking good enough...It's a simple fact that Freddies favourite singer was Aretha. In fact he said this on more than one occassion. Freddie also said that he would love Aretha to cover (his favourite song of himself): Somebody to love.
During Queen For An Hour he said that his favourite singers (in rock music) were George Michael and Robert Plant. At the Circus tapes he said Robert Plant (that's 1977 I think).
But of course Freddie mentioned Paul Rodgers: check out his diaries!
I always thought Freddie's favourite singer was H from Steps? Have I been misled? Or is it just that Brian and Roger and touring with him and they want people to buy into it?

PR had played with Brian at the Seville guitar legends show in Oct 91, as had other people also thanked on BTTL.

That show was wonderful (and it was before PR had all the surgery, so he still looked like a dodgy chip shop owner, which is nice) I think my over-riding memory of watching it was watching Steve Vai go into hyper-mode and thinking 'how the hell does he do that?'

I didn't know Paul had surgery... is that why he looks... um, weird? Well not weird, just very different from the old Paul.

Come on peeps, Paul has not had plastic sugery or a wig! He looks the same except older and more tanned. He has always had the almond eyes. As far as Paul being Freddie's favourite singer, lol Aretha was! In interviews he has mentioned Aretha as his all time, then Liza, and i think PR was mentioned as being liked but not his favourite.
well, paul definitely lost a lot of weight somewhere in the 90s, and i wouldn't be surprised if that would require a nip and tuck to finish the look he has now.
as for aretha vs paul, i think aretha is probably freddie's fav singer, but I'm sure he must have had some respect to paul which he'd expressed at some point. It's not surprising if roger and brian might stretch this a little to big up their new partner. After all, the shows have been very Queen heavy, and paul's taken a lot of heat over stepping into fred's shoes. I don't blame B+R for bigging him up a bit
