I once heard Roger Taylor's interview on the radio...He said they asked John to join them on the tour, but he wasn't really into it, so they decided to go on tour without it. Roger mentioned that John doesn't like crowded places and lots of people around him...so let's say it's one of the reasons he didn't go on tour with them. We all miss him, don't we:)? |
AmeriQueen 23.08.2006 03:30 |
In case the cynics don't help, John Deacon is 100% retired from music and has supposedly given Brian and Roger his moral support and approval for the Paul Rodgers thing, but has no intention of rejoining the band. |
Deacons 1st Choice 23.08.2006 20:22 |
True. One thing regarding Roger... I recently heard an interview with him at the US Convention ( forget which program it was on ...sorry!) and he was basically saying that he thought John was "stupid" for not wanting to tour again with them. I found this a bit insulting and disrespectful to John. i know Roger was probably just trying to encourage him to change his mind, and Ol' Roge is great as he freely speaks whats on his mind....but.....well, i found it a little disrespectful. We all have to sit back and come to terms with the fact that John is indeed retired and has chosen to do so under his own free will. I miss him and his influence in the Band as anyone, but i have enough respect for him to leave him be and let him get on with his life the way he sees fit. Bless em' |

I don't mind if John never tours or records again. But is it really so much to ask that he show up at a one-time gig now and again? Bestowing prestigious honors on the man doesn't even bring him out of his cave. But yeah, would be nice to hear from HIM once in a while :) |
cmsdrums 31.10.2006 14:56 |
I agree - a letter for the fan club mag or an online post wouldn't intrude on him; he wouldn't have to deal face to face with anyone and could say hi to us all. As you say, it's because of all the money we've spent on him that he's able to live in luxury now, having effectively retired in 1991 (other than a couple of guest appearances on one recorded track, the FM Tribute concert and the ballet thing), before he was even 40!! |

But I did so by telling him how him and his music were important to me. It is not fair to demand anything from him. What if he is not in a position to give what you want? What if he wants to, but just cannot, due to personal reasons? Keep rocking, buddy. Cheers, Ogre- |

Well, we don't know at all whether John, as a mature adult, is suffering from some heart condition or something that keeps him away from stages, so I think demanding him to be back is unfair and selfish. I like to think that John knows best what's good for him and his family, that he knows that Queen was a lovely dream that's over now (at least, the Queen as we knew it) and that he has no need at all to be in a stage or in front of a camera to feel better or to boost his ego. He must be feeling complete and fulfilled with whatever he's doing right now and that must be all that matters. |

Allright...I think I´m not the only one who think FM is unreplaceable. I think John feels the same way. And even though Paul Rodgers does a great job, it isn´t what it used to be. violonbleu No, of course not. But they still call themselfes Queen even though both John and Freddies gone. Calling themsefles Queen you will still sell out a show, however, being "Brian May and Roger Taylor feat. Paul Rodgers with friends preforms classic Queen, Free and Bad Company songs" may not be(for mortals)that exiting. A great strategic move. I saw them in Stockholm Sweden and I loved it. They did great. |

John Richard Deacon retired from the music field in the late 90s. I believed that John Richard Deacon have GREAT RESPECT for Freddie Mercury... Below is an excerpt from one of John's interview... Visit the website below for John's interviews.. link The singer's death in November 1991 has proved a brutal blow to Deacon. "As far as we are concerned, this is it," he insists. "There is no point carrying on. It is impossible to replace Freddie." With Queen retired he seems unlikely to forge a solo career like May and Taylor - "I can't sing; it's the one thing I wish I could do, because it would make songwriting so much easier!" - although he once released a solo effort under the group name of The Immortals (he wrote and recorded 'No Turning Back' as the theme to the 1986 'Biggles' remake). Here are some of his thoughts... Visit link He has made it clear that he endorses the 'Queen' projects put forward by Brian May and Roger Taylor, and was partially involved in the early stages of the preparation for the We Will Rock You musical. But currently, Deacon has retired from the music scene, and even declined to participate in the recent Queen + Paul Rodgers tour. According to The Sun, he was not impressed with Robbie Williams's version of "We Are the Champions", recorded for A Knight's Tale and he was also less than pleased[citation needed] with the re-make of "We Will Rock You" done by Britney Spears, Pink and Beyoncé with Brian May and Roger Taylor for a UK Pepsi television commercial in 2004. |
