On Meat Loaf's Bat III EPK Desmond Child says That working with Brian is a dream come true. He talks like a fan speaking about his idol. Brian on his site also claims that it was wonderful to work with the "Guys" and thathe would like to work again in the future. I really think that Desmond can be on his way to produce the new Queen(+PR) album. And he have that american sound appeal that could put Queen Back on USA charts. He was capable to do it with Veterans like aerosmith , Bon Jovi and Others. Producing and Co- Writing some songs with Brian and Roger(or Both) or even PR. would be good. remember, this is a new band, and after BM,FM,JD and RT, we can have other 4 good songwriters in PR,BM,RT and DC!
I don't like the co-writing idea. Brian and Roger write well enough on their own, and would be the only reason for me to buy the album in the first place. I like THEIR writing. Now, as for producing, that's fine.
Sounds good, but from what I hear about Desmond Child he is a bit of a control freak and likes things to basically come out exactly as he wants in terms of song structure, arrangement etc... as opposed to letting the artist take more control. I'm sure this wouldn't be the case with experienced artists like Brian, Roger and PR, but just a thought.
What I would like however is a reunion with Roy Thomas Baker - I feel he lost his way in the 80's with some crap like Ozzy etc.. but judging by the production on the last Darkness album (whether you actually like their music or not is irrelevant to the production) he is back on form. Besides, many acts like U2, Bowie, etc... seem to rake in a lot of publicity for their releases when teaming up again with a producer of their earlier 'classic' work, and I think this could be a good promotional tool which could help sell a Q+PR album without it actually being jsut a publicity stunt - the music and production would actually be worthwhile

This topic is not about that, but about a producer...
personally, i dont care if they would hire a feaf producer. As long as they release something new!

That would be Bruce Fairbairn, not Desmond Child, who put those bands back on the map.
Bruce's last work was with YES, during The Ladder sessions. That has become one of my favorite Yes albums.
Mack?? yeah you got it Asterix, besides 'The Game' album, he really had an influence in Queen's Euro sound of the 80's, which had a strong influence in hurting Queen's career in the USA at the same time...I dont think Queen would touch him, considering their last two studio albums were with David Richards?? on 'Innuendo' and 'Made in Heaven'.
Desmond Child would be a great canditate and choice to do a new studio album!!
Defending Mack for a second, I think the sound of the 80's was as much Freddies concept as it was his, Mack work with bands like ELO proved he was more than capable of doing interesting things, and I think he was (on paper) a great choice, however the sound the band was looking for was a definite move away from the 70's so I think it's a little unfair to blame Mack completely.
Roy Thomas Baker would be wonderful, but I suspect they will be moving forward not back, and I think this new album will new a new producer to yet again change the Queen sound!
Stand by your beds this could be very different from what has gone before...
