Why is there another "best of freddie mercury" cd out? just cos he would have been 60? He's only just had a box set and greatest hits, now this. Bloody Queen productions are breaking my balls over this. Its not as if his solo stuff was any good. I bet all the stepfords will buy it. Sad bastards. |
Suigi 03.08.2006 17:53 |
Wow. You must be related to vivival or BPP in some way, shape or form. Although I too bemoan the release of YET ANOTHER rerelease, I'm still pleased that QP is at least recognizing Freddie's 60th birthday. Better than the alternative. |
Nathan 03.08.2006 17:54 |
As someone once said, it's good for the newbie to Freddie's solo material (like me) but then there's already about two best of compilations already available. |

Sad bastards.Because, like with every other top selling artist going, they see a sense in bringing out an updated "best of" album every so often to interest those record buyers with a passing interest in any particular artist. If people buy it and enjoy it, they've made a smart business decision, pretty simple really. Does their decision to bring this out really "break your balls"? does it really keep you awake at night and cause you to occasionally break down in tears? Does it really cause a great deal of unhappiness in your life? Are you absolutely certain that it's just the stepfords that are the sad bastards on this particular occasion? :o) |

I am only curious about the remixes on cd 2 because i have all the rest in my FM boxset. also the extra bits on the Untold Story dvd are interesting for me, especially an emotional Brian giving a speech before the statue is revealed. i also saw on the new freddie site that the book that comes with this new set has some nice "new" pictures. Ok, alot of stuff we already have seen in the past but it's great that our Idol is still remembered and luckely this new set will features some extra's... |

Oh, and you haven't got your Freddie box set anymore, as I've gone and stolen it. |

*gasps* I thought my Freddie Shine was missing something! Give it back, you thief! And I don't know about you, but personally I would LOVE 8 alternate versions to Living On My Own. But that's just me. |

We, that is Roger and myself, have NOTHING whatever to do with the way Freddie's solo material is handled. This situation is not something that makes me very happy, but there are reasons to do with his Estate which dictate this. © brianmay.com" |

Let's see, I have over 100 different Queen CDs (including imports, re-issues, and all 46 greatest hits cds), plus all the cd singles (UK & US) and records, tapes, etc. I will gladly shell out my money for any future release as well. I have no problem with recycling and repackaging. Never even unwrapped my Queen AI cd and probably won't. I don't think it a waste of time at all. |
_Bijou_ 09.08.2006 14:11 |
It's not a waste of time. People all the time are discovering Queen and Freddie's music and this coming out is great for a new fan to buy. And would you rather they don't commerate Freddie's birthday at all? Get a life. |
Lester Burnham 09.08.2006 14:16 |
Bijou In Queens Crown wrote: And would you rather they don't commerate Freddie's birthday at all? Get a life.See, now that confuses me. Why SHOULD Freddie's birthday be commemorated? I don't recall any birthday celebrations for Jimi Hendrix, or Jim Morrison, or Keith Moon, or John Bonham, etc. There might have been one for John Lennon, but I don't recall. But what's the point in celebrating a dead man's birthday? I don't throw a party every year for my long-deceased grandfather on what would have been his birthday. I know that sounds far more callous than I might intend it to be, but I just don't understand the whole "60th birthday celebrations" thing. |

What a bunch of miserable people you are. Just because those other people you mentioned apparently don't have their birthday's celebrated doesn't mean Freddie's birthday can't. I'm not even going to bother. |

I don't care what you say, it's a nice idea to celebrate it. I can't get my head round why you lot are so dead against it. :S |
Micrówave 09.08.2006 17:59 |
Because we see the underlying reason for it, as Pieter so correctly pointed out. So if you think the party is FOR Freddie, then you don't undertstand, that's all. No one says Freddie CAN'T have a birthday party, but I'd like to see exactly who's paying for it and who's making the money off it. Those figures will be quite different. |
deleted user 09.08.2006 20:32 |
Not to mention, this is not the first time something has been pitched right around Freddie's birthday. It doesn't really matter if it's his 60th, cos it is not any different from his 56th. |

people still put flowers down on graves to those who have passed away birthday or christmas or anything and yes i am still buying freddie cd and dvd cant wait :) |

I was wondering the other day if any Queen+PR concert proceeds went to the MPT. I don't remember seeing anything about that on the tour books. I do remember seeing the link to the Trust, but nothing about a portion of the profits going there. I would be more inclined to buy the Freddie CD if I knew that all proceeds were going to his Trust. There is no question about that. |

I know this is probably a terribly uninformed opinion, but... For me, getting a CD is a huge hassle. I wait two weeks for a CD that the people at the store aren't sure if they can even get (which means you have to be paitient and sometimes have to start over after two weeks or risk getting two copies of something from different stores). Of course, this situation would be different if I wanted to listen to Hillary Duff. Or if I could buy things on-line. If this CD, like "Stone Cold Classics" gets itself released in a store near me, I will be happy. You see, at all stores near me, they don't have a "Freddie Mercury" section (or any other Queen-member solo projects, and none floating in the "M (or T) Other" sections. And since these things were already albums, the people that buy the CD's tend to not sell them off to used stores. It's just my boring opinion. I would like to get a "Best of Freddie" CD (or the actual album, but chances of anyone ever having any of those in their A51 ware-houses are beyond hopeless), but right now that's not exactly possible. For me, it would be really nice if it came to the local stores... |
Grantcdn1 13.08.2006 21:12 |
It's a shame that they couldn't have done a special Queen release to commemerate his birthday....because let's face it....his solo stuff was nothing compared to the work he did with Brian, Roger and John.....all his best stuff was in Queen.......it's kind of like remembering a star football player for his time in the minor leagues and not for when he was part of a championship team.... |
