What did people think of the recognition Queen got. I wished there could have been more to be honest but hey at least Queen got a mention. When the presenters were taking a trip down 70's Memory Lane a few seconds from different performances from the 70's were played back and a few seconds of Killer Queen was shown. I was in my sitting room with my family and squeaked 'QUEEN' as soon as I saw that gorgeous man Freddie in his furry coat.
Dad liked Killer Queen and played it to make up for us not hearing the whole thing. I didn't think it was a great way to end a show running for over 40 years. Hardly any classics were included in the show (unless you count Gnarls Barkley's 'Crazy' as a classic)It was mostly from Spice Girl's era onwards and we all know music wasn't at it's best then. However there was a very young David Bowie performing 'Starman' and the Rolling Stones so they were both great. And finally after the 70's playbacks one of the idiot presenters whose name escapes me stated seeing Queen there reminded him of his fondest TOTP memory, getting a broom and sweeping the stage DURING QUEENS PERFORMANCE OF SSOR!! Stupid prat was too thick to realise he was the only one who found that funny. So I'm sorry about the bloody novel on TOTP but I'm wondering what everyone else thought of the show. Did Queen get enough said? Do you think more should have been said about other classic artists 'cos I do!
The idiot with the broom was Dave Lee Travis. As for the show itself it really was a damp squib of a final show. As you said there was too much of the Spice Girls era onwards and not enough of the earlier bands and singers. And like someone in another thread said, what is their obsession with playing that old Jackson 5 song Rocking Robin? Its never off TOTP2!
