Well, take a look at this: link
I never saw this combination of his drums: 4 tom-tom's on one row.
Well, maybe I've gone too far to open a topic for this, but maybe somebody knows more about this or this picture :-).
I saw this in a video of Queen the other day, I cant remember which but are you asking if it's been seen any other way than with Roger or when/were Roger used this formation..
Ouch!!! This is a good one! I enlarged the photo to get a closer look and there's a possiblity that it could be a Queen cover band.If you look closely at the left arm of "Freddie" he's wearing a watch. Since when had Freddie ever been seen onstage or off wearing a watch. Plus, the outfit "Freddie" is wearing had a long black sleeve. He stopped wearing those in the earlier years. "Rogers' hair is short as if it wear from the NOTW tour. And the right sleeve on "Brians" waistcoat is the style from the DATR tour 6 months earlier. So I think there's a possibilty it could be a cover band in various era's of Queens' 70's years. Unless it's from Chicago 77 where they actually had to rent gear because either the trucks were late getting into town due to snow or one of the trucks broke down due to the weather. But they did rent the gear for that show. Or this glass of wine is really getting to me and I don't know which way is up at the moment...
The one wearing the watch is John. If you look closely, you see his hand is ready for a downstroke on his bass. I dare you to find a cover band that actually brings the giant gong!
But if that's John, where is the neck and headstock of the bass? And the gong is smaller than the one Roger would normally use. His original is 60". Not sure what size the one in the photo is but it's definitely smaller. This photo is quite interesting.
did'nt you noticed the tiny eyes roger has in that picture? ;)
actually, the picture is from kween's drummer. Kween is a well known japanese cover band of queen.
here is the link to the photo: link
cheers.
Yeah thats not roger. Roger's always used Ludwig drums and Ludwigs dont use that kind of mounting system except for the cheaper kinds. That looks like a Pearl Export set from the badges and the pole mounting system (cant remember the specific name).
4 in a row toms are actually pretty comfortable, especially with a drum rack so you can position them however.
It seems a bit silly me however that, as a tribute band, they go to the legths of having a Brian May guitar, the leoptard, the curly wig etc.. and then the drummer sets his kit up in a configuration that Roger never (or possibly only once or twice)used!!!
Oh my God, that is hilarious! Have you seen their singer? He's just what Freddie was always afraid he would become later in life. This guy is bigger than a sumo wrestler and he wears the leotard! Ain't no substitute for courage!
