The Knife actually started out as a short demo, and grew in size until Trespass. The 1st box set, Archive I, has a great early version, different from the countless edited versions.
It's you.
Personally, I think Foo Fighters songs are wierd. Does that mean they are? Certainly not.
If you're a fan of FM Radio Pop/Hits, then Genesis is probably not for you.
I hear Genesis often on FM radio, and they would certainly fit into the "Pop" category (although that category is just as broad as "Rock").
However, I must say, their music does have a lot of New Wave 80's to it, however it's often a lot slower, and the vocals are (while still a hint of a typical 80's singer) almost...maybe darker is a fitting word?
Either way, the music is kind of unconventional (i.e. weird).
Well, if you're talking Phil Collins / Invisible Touch Genesis, then yes, they're Pop. And wierd too, I guess.
I was talking about the majority of the band's career, mainly the 70's. It is in no way Pop. Quite creative and very organ friendly. I belive the term thrown around most is "Progressive", which by definition, can mean a variety of styles.
By the mid 80's they had started to fade into Pop oblivion, while Peter Gabriel has continued to put out quality.
