The upside seems to be that as no 3:36 edit seems to exist, eil's claims are indeed correct, and that this edit actually 'DIFFERS completely to all known release versions'.
The downside is that it is an edited version only and not a remix, different take or version. Therefore, anyone with the official full version, also by default, owns this edit if they are 'willing to roll their own'.

I imagine this was the edit test-pressed for a UK single release (A or B-side: UK 1-sided Emidisc 7" acetate) which did not happen.
It was not mine, but between us, I guess we can work out the original owner ;-)
PS: Please notice that if I can answer a question or request, then I do so politely without fuss or riddles... ;-)
This was in my collection some years ago, along with Ogre Battle and My Fairy King... Paid a lot for them and sold it basically at par through a Bonham auction; mostly because i wasnt convinced 100% about its authenticity. The version it had was an edited BBC version (same as on BBC CD from 1989 with heavily edited fade-in intro ). I still have all three discs in wav + better scanned picture, if any cares i can put it up somewhere...
JSS: i asked you about these 3 acetates roughly 6 months ago, and your reply was something like "i agree with you , its most likely not genuine..." . Although I never figured out how and why would anyone make a reprint copy of an acetate...

Miklos: You are correct, I still have those original e-mails. I wrote the above answer without consulting my previous notes. Sorry about that.
I still agree with you because, 'I (too) never figured out how and why would anyone make a reprint copy of an acetate...'
Being perfectly honest, the problem for me is that this 'thing' exists - so it is a 'genuine acetate'. However, to this day, I still suspect its authenticity, simply because it is an EMI disc, But as we all know, the BBC sessions were EMI independant. Also, the strange intro defies the logic of providing the track with an economical 'hook'.

Ferdy>I have just seen a picture of a "we will rock you" acetate on your webpage. This was exactly the fourth acetate that I was offered for sale around six years ago (you can see it on the picture i sent you, the label is exactly the same),and as i said earlier i only bought the other three. Do you have any confirmation of the content of that, is that also the BBC version or ...? When the seller showed me this piece, it just added to my confusion. 3 acetates from the BBC sessions and one WWRY with very similar EMIDISC .... no idea why they exist.
as far as I know the WWRY acetate contains and edited album version. I't from Queenpicurehall.com collection (Ron). I suppose they were commisioned for an non specific purpose like singles issue or whatever but just for inhouse reason like listening. The value of the "Liar" in my opinion is not comparable to the Trident acetate one which I think is more important as collector item.

here it is if anyone cares ... the above mentioned three acetates in one mp3. As said earlier i dont hear any difference to the normal bbc versions except the intro cut. If anyone else has different opinion let us know :).
