Bohemian Rhapsody, WWRY and We Are the Champions |
deleted user 17.07.2006 21:46 |
I'm not saying that their quality is necessarily overrated, just that I hear them way too often on the radio : "Bohemian Rhapsody" "We Will Rock You" "We are the Champions" "Fat Bottomed Girls" "Bicycle Race" "Somebody to Love" Yeah, my radio station isn't aware that any other Queen songs exist. And they ALWAYS play "Bohemian Rhapsody" in the middle of the night, when only stay-up-late pshychos like me are even listening. |
Carol! the Musical 17.07.2006 21:57 |
We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions are way overplayed. And besides, most of the people only know the chorus to WATC, and nothing else. Learn to appreciate the whole song, sheesh! :/ |
xxxpwxxx 18.07.2006 00:05 |
the radio stations around my area actually play 'Somebody To Love' a lot.... |
The prophet's song 18.07.2006 01:30 |
Solid Gold always plays We Are The Champions and Bohemian Rhapsody I've tried requesting something different once and a while, but my requests fall on deaf ears... |

here in Perth Aus, the two stations that play classics always play Another one bites the dust and Its a kind of magic more than any other Queen song. |

just three songs. Bo Rhap, WWRY, and WATC. :) |

I don't hear Queen quite often. Maybe on Vh1 and MTV Romania but only once or twice a week :( My computer always saves me. |

Bo Rhap. |
DragonOnMyBack 18.07.2006 09:21 |
Definately Bo Rhap, WWRY and WATC. Nice to hear but I do get tired of them sometimes and have to have a break by skipping them while listening to the albums. having said that I always go back to them eventually because they are great songs. |
eenaweena 18.07.2006 09:25 |
WWRY and WATC are very overused songs. They're always sung in stadiums and even American Idol, and many renditions of it have been done. like britney spears. (pukes) and there's even a crazy frog version. |

"Tie your Mother Down" is always played at various events. However, it has no melody and it really is not clever or funny in terms of the lyrics. I know that Brian May likes it because he wrote it, but there are SO many Queen songs that are more original. |

when VH1 do the "best 100 rock bands" and "best 100 live acts" Bo Rhap at Wembley and Ga Ga from Wembley 86 ALWAYS get played! Bo rhap is played far too often for starters, Ga Ga, not that often but sounds even better than the DVD, the drum sound is AWESOME! We Will Rock You Live Aid Edit is also played alot on VH1 classic etc. the version which starts with WWRY Live Aid then goes into WWRY wembley, then back into WWRY Live Aid. good edit, goes well with the pics o fLive Aid. |

We Will We Will rock you!!! My little cousin was singing that at our family get together on the 4th of July, and she's 6!!!!! But truthfully I like all of Queens songs!!! |
AspiringPhilosophe 19.07.2006 18:44 |
You mean some of you actually get to hear Queen on the radio??? There are no stations around me that even play Queen anymore! I'd have to say We Are the Champions or We Will Rock You....since they are arena anthems I figure they get played about 80 times a night at some point on the globe. Good songs, but not when people just know one sentence from the song and insist on making up their own lyrics GRR!!!! |

"Bo Rhap", "Fat Bottom Girls", and "WWRY". I have my satellite radio programmed to alert me whenever a Queen song is on and invariably, it's one of those three that pops up. For crying out loud, I wish they would explore some other Queen songs. |

Every now and then, I'll hear "Best Friend" or "Somebody To Love". I guess they just don't appreciate the awesome talent that Queen was!!! |

WATC/WWRY are definitely played too much, as is Radio Ga Ga and TYMD. I love TYMD, particuarly the live version at Wembley which was mighty but there are other great rockers in the repoitoire, inlcuding Hammer to Fall and I Want it All. It's worth noting that much of Queen's post-86 material is ignored by radio stations- it goes to prove that going on the road with songs makes them legendary and Queen could no longer do that in '89 and '91. |
deleted user 25.07.2006 06:08 |
To be honest, when I'm at home in Scotland (quite near Glasgow) I hear no Queen songs. Although Real Radio claims to have 'Real Variety' and played a snippet of AKOM (never in full though). They do this stupid sweep of '80's Anthems' and Queen have produced a fair few anthems from that era like Radio GA GA and I Want It All but nothing comes up. However I was in Spain last week and I heard It's A hard Life, Friends Will Be Friends, TSMGO, and WWTLF was played twice on a Spanish Radio station. The English Station they have there is called Spectrum FM, they played Bo Rhap, DSMN and CLTCL. Guess they like Queen more over there than here. *sob* |
