Well, as many of the QZer's obviously know, the only widely available videos of the Christmas concert at the Hammersmith Odeon miss the last three songs (Seven Seas of Rhye, See What A Fool I've Been, God Save the Queen). If anyone has that material, in any quality would you mind sharing it on Queenzone or possibly organizing a trade with me. It would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Thijs is right, Queen had only one hour to broadcast and when the band closed with the rock & roll medley the camera crew thought that the concert was over and packed their bags. But as you can hear Freddie say at the beginning of Seven Seas Of Rhye "A number we forgot to do in the set" the guys kept playing a few more songs yet the camera crew was already gone... so only a audio recording remains.
This is what I heard though.

I heard that one camera was still going, but that's only rumours.
That could actually be true. Even in the early 70's they used to record a concert using one or more camera's. There's always a "safety cam" that captures everything from a safe angle (mostly from a distance with a wide shot of the stage) so if any of the camera's should fail in any way they could always use the broadcasted images from the safety cam.
But of course the master tape of that particular camera could have been destroyed afterwards or it's locked away somewhere in the archives of the BBC. We're most likely never gonna see it... :-(
Jay, I believe i do have Seven Seas of Rhye. Its been a while since ive watched it and i may be getting confused between The Rainbow 74, Hyde Park 76 & Earls Court 77. I do remember that i recently looked around the internet for another copy of Hammersmith 75 (just as a back-up) and realising my version has a more complete concert than what seems to be generaly available. I dont want to lead anyone astray here.. so give me a day or two to dig out my copy of "H75" and ill update you with what i have on it.
On a side note... i was goning to attempt to splice in the missing introduction by Bob Harris & first 30 sec's or so of "Now Im Here" from the Bohemian Rhapsody Documentary shown on UK TV a while back.
I know these forums can lead to very vicious and malicious attacks.. so, again give me a day or two to gather the info before you all attempt to "rip me a new asshole"
thanks,
