Now that everybody in Europe and North America can get a hold of this album, I'd like to hear your thoughts on Muse's brand new work.
Personally all I can say is... WOW!
I was a bit afraid that Muse might dissapoint me with a new album that since earlier this year they've been hailing as "different" and "more upbeat".
The great news is that this album explores new musical territories without letting anyone down. Muse still sounds like Muse and their musical identity is intact.
I would even dare to say that this might be their best work to date, even thought their 3 previous studio albums are absolutely superb.
I shan't lie, the first time I listened to it, I thought it was good, obviously, but I wasn't blown away. Other than Supermassive Blackhole and Soldier's Poem, nothing really hit me.
The next day, listening to it on my iPod, all of a sudden, Assassin hit me, and I was thought "fuck me, this album is epic". And it is exactly that. Knight's Of Cydonia is awesome, especially the ending, and Exo-Politics is another stand-out track (in a similar vein to Butterflies and Hurricanes, yet completely different). Overall, it's just a completely epic album. Epic is the only word I can use to describe.
And you're right, Muse have done something completely different, yet still sound exactly like Muse, without repeating themselves.
The only criticism that lingers is that sometimes I think the album suffers for a little over-production. Not that it ruins the album, I just think in places it could do with being a little more rough, rather than so precise. But then again, perhaps the other three proper albums just aren't as produced in comparison to this album.
Still, its a shit-hot album either way. The phrase "blown away" doesn't even come close to describing the over-all feeling once you've had time to absorb the album.
Hey Mr. Jingles,
thanks for the update...if I had any money I'd get the album. When is the concert you are seeing? I was told you were going to the Boston show....

I'm going to both the Boston (August 2nd)and the New York show the next day.
I was thinking of taking my car to Boston but driving through a major city guided by driving directions and no "co-pilot", is a fuckin' nightmare.
Then my dad told me that Jet Blue's airfares are very low and I should take a look. I found that I could get a round trip ticket for 120 bucks, and I get to Boston in an hour.
Plus, the theater is not too far from the airport, and it wouldn't be too much money in case I decided to take a cab.
I'm leaving the next morning, but hotels are too expensive around the area. I'm just going to the airport once the show ends and hang around until 6am, when my flight leaves back to NY.
Hope you have fun at the show Maggie!
I don't know how I really feel yet. But while the single certainly is cool, my first listen to the album yesterday didn't do much for me. I loved the previous album and thought this might do the same. But not so. Anyway, I'm gonna give it a few more listens at some point and see how it goes. But initial reaction is that I'm not as impressed as with the previous album.
Peace,
Adam.

My first listening of 'Origin Of Symetry' wasn't a positive one. I thought the album was overly experimental, and too electronic psychadelic.
Now I can appreciate the beauty of it after listening to it over 100 times. It's still my least favorite Muse album but it has grown on me a lot.
