Hi! Just thought I'd start a topic on Queen's kick ass bass riff's and lines that are just fucking amazing and deserve more attention to be brought on them
Aside from the obligatory and fantastic bass riffs of Another One Bites The Dust and Under Pressure we have Dragon Attack and Breathru. Also in 39 the bass on that song is fantastic, I really love it. I wish I had the master tapes so I could turn down the vocals and guitar and just listen to John's bass, once or twice through, lol. Also You're My Best Friend has a very catchy and good bass riff. I really like the bass in Bring Back That Leroy Brown. Anyhoo, just saying I love my queen bass riff's and rythms. :)
(anyhoo....)

Aww, yes. I <3 me Deaky.
I think all the bass stuff going on in The Invisible Man is pretty good too.
Ah, lol, i havent listened toThe Invisible Man in a while, but I just put it on, and yes it's very good. Really a very strong riff.
*listening to Millionaire Waltz now*
AHH! It is fantastic!!! Our Queenies and their awesome bass lines. Fantastic.

Are Queen fans finally coming close to enjoying the music at my level (as arrogant as that sounds but hey, John is a better bass player than Freddie is a singer. That's my opinion)
John is with out a doubt one of the greatest rock bassists ever. How many bassists can actually lay claim to writting a bass riff that is now in musical folk law (AOBTD). While his bass riffs arnt always difficult - though many are - they are always catchy.
I like the bass toward the end of Radio GaGa.
Make sure you listen to the REAL bass and not the synth.

I LOVE the bass line in "Back Chat".
Oh my goodness, I haven't heard Queen for over a week. I think this is the correct moment to go into shock and cause damage to random objects in the vicinity.
This was not my choice and I'm in withdrawal from the three things I need on a daily basis - Queen, my cat, and my wonderful projects-that-are-on-my-computer.
May I cry on you ?
Being a bassist I can really appreciatte John's playing.
For bass riffs he has some quality ones -maybe not complicated but grate riffs lile
Bits The Dust
Under Pressure
Dragon Attack(even though thiswould be classed as Brians riff)
As for bass lines - there are many great ones
Millionaire Waltz
The Show Must Go On (especially the first verse - before drums kick in for chorus)
Crazy Little Thing
Somebody to Love
Save Me (any bass players will know what I meanabout this - faultless playing - when is could have been so easy just to play simple)
The Miracle
Fairy Fellers Master Stroke
Father To Son
Sail Away Sweet Sister
Teo Torriatte
The list can go on and on
but for me I would say my fave to play is Millionaire Watz - possible as good a song for a bassist as any - ever - but my fave all time song to play on bass is a song by Extreme called Cupid's Dead from there III Sides To Every Story album
