... the last song played during the celebrations was WATC. We all know the songs' worldwide impact. I just mention it, because Rog said after the '98 WC, that it still makes him immensely proud, to hear it being played on such occasions. Me too, by the way... ;-)
The song will still be played in a hundred years, I'm sure. Fitting end to a wonderful tournament.
Oh yes, of course I noticed it, and it was the most exciting moment to me(lol)...even though I expected that it would be played, I was more excited than I expected...
Anyway, I was very proud that it was played on the most glorious occasion.
That reminds me. I heard it being played during the celebrations of the World Classic Baseball Games held in the US this March.
I'm sure WATC will be played as long as the world important sport games will be played.
FIRST OF ALL, WELL DONE ITALY FOR WINNING THE WORLD CUP!!!!!!!! SECOND OF ALL, YESSSSSSS I HEARD "WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS" IT WAS THE BEST SONG THERE PLAYED! :D
For me Un'Estate Italiana is far better and much more football-majestic.
Still I love Champions as well and felt quite glad to hear it in the Toyota Cup '04 in Yokohama. It seems so long ago now...

Un'Estate Italiana is a beautiful football anthem.
My third best sports anthem after WATC and WWRY.
For those who might not know this, Un'Estate Italiana was written by Giorgio Moroder who co-wrote 'Love Kills' with Freddie back in 1984.
Very OT: but Italy did not deserve to win the finals. If you think Italy was the best team during the finals...oh well, that is ridiculous. "We are the champions" was not a joy hearing when france clearly was the better team.
No Italy did'nt deserve to Win, but bottom line we did! and what a cheap call in the 1st 2 minutes and what a cheap shot in OT, how stupid was that? But guess emotions get the better of u, but not in the WORLD CUP CHAMPIONSHIP!
GO ITALY!
As Italy proved organistation always prevails over a past-it playmaker and a coach that picks teams by star signs. Take heed those who hail "the beautiful way of playing"- it gets you nowhere.
Grande Italia!!!!
This was a great Italy... they fought till the end without sparing energies, and especially, they made a real team work, with no-one trying to be the superstar.
Hey, I didn't hear WATC!!!! When did they play it? I even watched the replay of the ceremony and wasn't able to catch it... guess I'll wait until it's up on youtube or somethin' :(
