Did Queen's name get tarnished? Was Paul Rodgers ruining Queen? Did the QueenWorld crumble? In other words, BPP and all of his cronies, were they right in the end? I have my opinion (FUCK NO!) having been to a concert (and thus making my 2006 a year to remember, thank-a-you-very-much), but I'd like to hear yours. |

i enjoyed QPR but i hope they move in a different direction.Nothing pisses me off more then pulling this guy of the fair circuit then hearing him remark about getting back to all these projects and him touring now off the heals of the Queen tour pisses me off too.I dont ever want to see Bri and Roj having to play lame ass songs live "feel like making lover"ect ever again.Lets Grab JSS back from Journey or someone else so it can be Queen and only Queen. |
Knute 10.07.2006 03:49 |
The PR tunes were some of the best of the tour. It's amazes me how some people have an attitude like Rodgers was in the way, when the truth was he was the reason it all happened in the first place. They have already played with JSS, why didn't he inspire Bri and Rog to get back together on the road again? To answer the question of this thread, of course not. There was absolutley no harm done and it was an enjoyable enterprise that made for a great concert and lots of good memories, and the best part is that they may not be done. |

The tour was GREAT. It was my chance to see the band live. Paul Rodgers became a better frontman of the band with every show. I felt a bit bad for him in a couple of shows in Europe because the audience paid a lot more attention to Brian and Roger than to him. Sometimes he would be in the catwalk and the people would be looking at Brian singing backing vocals on the main stage. I know because I did that on my first show but then I began to appreciate more Paul's input to the show. When they went to the US and I saw them in San Diego it was almost the other way around. Paul almost had the audience on the palm of his hand. There were some girls going nuts for him and almost not caring about Brian or Roger, hehe :). Apart from Dragon Attack and some of the rockier Queen tracks, the songs I enjoyed the most on the San Diego gig were Paul's. I didn't have the chance to listen to Feel Like Making Love and Bad Company because those were not played on the 4 european gigs I went to and I enjoyed them a lot. The people seemed to enjoy Paul's material more than some of the Queen tracks in the USA and that was good for the show. Paul grew in confidence because of all the positive feedback of the crowd, making it the best rock show I've ever attended. Better than U2 and The Stones, for sure (their shows in Monterrey, I mean). See ya, Wiley |

This past year or so spending time on the QPR circut has been one of the best of my life. Thanks to Paul inspiring Brian and Roger. Thosands of folks would not have had the opportunity to see Bri and Rog if were not for Paul. QPR left a lot of great memories and made a lot of fans happy. The Queen name is not tarnished it brought it back on the radar screen again with a spark of freshness and talent that few folks alive can bring. They became relevant again--we wouldn't be seeing them on VH-1 and other shows if they were not "out there". Brian was inspired to perform at the top of game--RMT dumming like a mad-man at 56--I am sorry but JSS does not provide the spark-energy- inspiration that BM and RMT need to do go out and tour again. Paul has the pedigree, personality and talent to provide the inspiration/support required. QPR has been a great opportunity for Paul--it raised him to another level, challenged him, and overall we have seen Paul perform at the best he has ever done in his life--and he picked up a quite few admirers along the way or reminded those who have always liked him just how talented he is and dusted off the old records and appreciate his work even more. As far as QPR doing more in the future? In my mind the jury is out on that one--Paul seems to be enjoying his solo gigs--after seeing him last week I could tell he was really enjoying the time, seemed very comfortable, relaxed and more soulful in his performance--a very peaceful vibe if you will--not as intense as Queen show can be. Perhaps that's what he needs for a while. Brian seems busy with all his books, plays and other projects when is there time in his to come back to QPR? Does he really want to? I HOPE they do more, record, etc. For now- I live in the moment and enjoy what they are willing to share at given point in time. Bless them all! CQ |

Wiley and Compliance Queen, you are right on the money. Non of this could have turned out as great as it has if not for Brian, Rodger, and Paul doing this all together. That is what makes it work. Brian and Rodger did not get together with Jeff Scott Soto because the do not have chemistry. I got to see JSS play with the Boys at the small show in Hollywood, and Jeff was out of place, big ego, no soul. Paul has soul, great pipes, and his own great somgs to add to the work of Queen. Let them do what they need to and hust hope for more in what ever form it comes Cheers! |

i think your all full of crapola and enjoy reading your own print.this guy Rodgers is a journeyman singer who hit the lottery with this project.so what does he do?he decides his other "projects" now must be done .dont for one second think roj and bri would not still be touring if it were not for mr wonderful fresh off his new found fame deciding he must play with these session losers so its all about PR.for those who now go to his shows and sing his praise,go hang out at his lame ass website with all the other grandma's who think a 60 year old in a wifebeater shirt is sexy.this is a QUEEN site!!Paul is not QUEEN! |

Stateside and others: You are entitled to your opinion. The topic was posted in the Queen+Paul Rodgers section. For the record I am not a grandma and I am not 60. Brian & Roger & Paul are pushing 60- who cares??!! The vile, vulgar and negative attitude on this board is getting tiresome. |

Stateside fan, you really need to find some help, you seem to have some very bitter issues going on I do hope it doesn't spill out into everyday life! QPR was a great thing, 2005-2006 was too long in coming, as they said time and time again they will be back together in the fall working on new material some of which has already been started. All you naysayers had better brace yourselves QUEEN is back and there different now, if youdon't like it go listen to the old albums in your bedrooms and cry into your pillows Long live Q+PR! |

Its as if he personally offended you by not saying "Oh, of course I have barely survived for the last 20 years, and any time Brian and Roger want to pay me to sing scales anywhere on earth, I will be there with bells on, and God bless them for it." Even if it were true, the guy's entitled to his pride, isn't he? "How dare he not acknowledge his mediocre talent and lack of mainstream success!" Be real. Nobody's going to do that. Yet you never miss an opportunity to denigrate his considerable talent and contribution to the project, solely because he wasn't enough of an obsequious suck-up to satisfy your own perception. What an ego! Let it go. You generally seem like a sensible and reasonable guy, especially compared to some of the hysterical bedwetting crybaby wingnuts on this site, but the way you always harp on this one nagging little issue really makes you look like an obsessive Trekkie who's hung up on one insignificant bit of inconsequential minutia. Take a deep breath, blow it out and move on. |

I saw the real Queen 14 times. I also saw Q+PR at Hyde Park. Yes, an expensive rock concert will always be impressive with the sound and flash lights - but as a band Q+PR were utter SHITE. What the hell is all this talk of a "chemistry" between them. Maybe if they wrote some songs together we could see a new unique fusion of different aspects of the rock world. But, holy shit, Paul Rogers singing "I Want To Break Free". It's like The Nolans doing "I'm In The Mood For Dancing" with Lemmy from Motorhead on vocals. I apreciate those out there who say it's given you a chance to see Queen live. BUT YOU HAVEN'T and never will. Queen live finished when Freddie left us. |

"It's like The Nolans doing "I'm In The Mood For Dancing" with Lemmy from Motorhead on vocals." The only useful thing you said in your entire diatribe. I don't know about anyone else, but I, for one, would pay to see that..... |

"It's like The Nolans doing "I'm In The Mood For Dancing" with Lemmy from Motorhead on vocals."Will this be touring? Perhaps a European tour followed by Japan and then North America :D It was an enjoyable experience seeing Q+PR. Whatever they choose to do from now on is fine with me. If they record and tour again I hope it's good. If it isn't good or they don't record and tour again my life will go on just fine. Paul Rodgers didn't do anything to personally offend/insult/attack/injure anyone so whatever he does good luck to him. Some people need to get out more |

Mary & I totally enjoyed the three shows we saw, but I agree a new direction would be interesting -- dreaming Josh McCrae on drums, Roger on vocals/rythm guitar, Brian lead guitar, Gail Ann Dorsey on bass |

I'd say they did a piss poor job of commercially running the tour. For example, they have American Idol and Rock Honors AFTER the tour. I'd like to see them maybe hit South America and some of the U.S. that they missed(DALLAS, Houston, Austin, Tulsa, Memphis, Denver, St. Louis, New Orleans, Nashville, etc.) this fall while collaborating on a new album for early next year. Overall, I think the Q + PR experience's only strong negative is that they should have done this 10 years ago. They put on a world tour offering a blues-style/more Brian + Roger tour with deep emotional nostalgia, innovative interpretation of Queen classics, not to mention a thick slice of Free and Bad Company's best tracks done better than ever by Paul + his best supporting players ever. I think the BPP types are just loud, annoying anti-Paul guys who hate him enough to not be interested, so they lean the other way, looking at the tour as blasphemous. I admit, a Robbie Williams tour would have stirred up similar feelings for me, except that I am always a fan of anything live or studio that Brian and Roger are a part of. A lot of people lost sight of the fact that sometimes(often early on) Paul was back stage and Brian and/or Roger were running a Queen show. After years of Freddie's dominant fronting the stage, it was nice to see a tour that focused more on these two guys. The greatest entertainment events of my lifetime thus far are the Birmingham, Los Angeles and San Diego shows I caught and I wouldn't trade them for anything. One final thing to say is that all and all, I think this tour holds it's own with other Queen tours. It's certainly not the same, but it's uniqueness by comparison offers a lot. |

I regret that I didn't have the opportunity to go to a live concert of Queen+PR. I was only able to see the dvd, which I presume was nowhere quite the same as being at the actual concert itself. However, from what I saw on the dvd, if they do another tour, I definitely would find a way to go see them. Personally I think Paul Rodgers did a great job. I wasn't expecting a Freddie look-alike or 'act-alike' and I wasn't expecting them to be exactly like they were when Freddie was around. duh! Paul held his own and gave a different feeling to Queen which was not at all unpleasant. I especially liked the new slower version of "Hammer To Fall". As for Paul's songs, I've always liked those songs (Feel like making Love, All Right Now, Wishing Well, and Can't Get enough of Your Love). Brian's guitar was awesome on All Right Now! I really hope they do another tour and this time come to Orlando, FL. |

I saw them at the Gwinnet Center in Duluth Georgia and they were PHENOMENAL!!! Seriously!!! I loved them like a madman! I have seen Paul Rodgers with an alternate line-up of Bad Company (I think it was in 2001) and they were quite good but it was AMAZING seeing him with Queen!!! |

I saw them at the Miami Airlines Arena on March the 3rd and I thought the performance was absolutely wonderful! Both Roger and Brian were great, and Paul Rodgers did quite a good job as well...I have to admit, I didn't really expect that, and underestimated him. Overall, for me, the performance was very well...Roger's "I'm in love with my car", was like a dream come true for me! and Brian...OH MY GOSH!!!! I almost fainted when i saw him...and realized I was "breathing the same air, as he was." |

My only quarrel is: "Why is ROTC edited? As in no Under Pressure?" Have they suddenly decided to do a Robert Plant/Led Zeppelin Live Aid and say: It wasn't good enough so I left it out? Besides that, I really enjoyed the DVD and I feel that Q+PR is a great way to keep Queen alive. My only regret is that I didn't see them live. |
AmeriQueen 19.08.2006 18:07 |
Oh yeah, they blew it! So much for Queen! Come on, people. We have no need to even acknowledge that discussion anymore. Paul Rodgers revitilized our favorite band, ressurecting it back in a new form. Any idiot can tell that this has absolutely NOTHING in it that can touch Queen's legacy during Freddie's life. For the BPP nimrods of the world, who gives a rat's ass what they think. It's album time, let's move forward and quit analyzing the changeover at vocals. |

I don't think the Queen name is tarnished...I saw Queen+PR live in DC...And I think it will be very interesting to hear what this studio album is gonna sound like. There is some stuff that Paul just isn't suit to sing out of Queen's catalogue, however being that it was an 'out of the ashes' tour; They had to draw upon their more well known songs. I can think of at least twenty Queen songs off the top of my head that I know Paul would put a great vocal over. To all of you older fans that are pissed off and saying that "Q+PR is shiite" or whatever...how can the older fans, the ones who have seen the original Queen at least 5 or 6 times; expect Paul Rodgers to try to sing and perform like Freddie? Change your tampon... |
violonbleu 07.09.2006 06:56 |
They call themselves how they want; we, fans, have nothing to say about this point. If they want to call themselves "The Freddie Mercuries", they do what they want. They own their rights. Discussing this point is losing time. |
