Hello fellow Queen fans! I hope Im not a bother, and i know this really shouldnt be posted up, (and i apologize). But for the past few days i have been looking at the dfferent types of bootlegs, torrents, music etc, that is posted up. and there is some kind of rule about not posting up things that are official such as dvds. I have been wondering what that is about. so if something is official, you can't share it online? Can someone please explain to me? I hope Im not a nuisance! Thank you!

It is basically illegal to provide copyrighted material without the consent of the copyright holder.
So DVDs released "officially" (in this case by Queen Productions Limited) is protected by the copyright, and cannot be re-sold or re-distributed in a mass market manner (as posting it on this site would be).
Reselling your own personal copy of a DVD or CD (i.e. at a car boot sale or on Amazon second hand or on eBay) is, I believe, legal as you are reselling the original product. If you copied that product and sold that copy, that would be illegal.
So that is the dilemma. If something is a "bootleg" (i.e. hasn't been officially released) then it can be posted and enjoyed by all. You just need to know what's official and what's not. Not always easy.
Thats exactly the point! It starts to get technical when you have a concert that has like one or two songs released from a soundboard and there is an audience recording. Some people even argue that officially released stuff that is no longer available is OK to share but I really don't know...
