Hello! I feel a bit dumb. I never understood if Queenfans don't like Rolling Stone (the magasin) or Rolling Stones (the band). I ever though it was the magasin, but, some weeks ago there was a Versus Weekend on VH1 and Queen played vs Rolling Stones. Now I have many doubts and I have a little little anti-Rolling Stones feeling. I don't know why, maybe because I do not agree with the message they show in their lyrics. Do you like Rolling Stones? |

I like them. I got into them when i ordered a Paul McCartney CD from the Internet and a Rolling Stones CD was in its case. Some sort of mix up in the ordering or something. But i kept it... and i ended up listening to it. Roger Taylor said "...No one is as old as Mick Jagger" during the Magic tour. That was 1986!! He's ancient now!! Maybe he should go on a holiday or something. |

Yes. After all songs like Now I'm Here according to my dad are influenced by Rolling Stones and I like Gimme Shelter and Sympathy for the Devil myself |
Nathan 02.07.2006 14:43 |
Oh yes, I really like the Rolling Stones. Among my favourite songs are 'Satisfaction', 'The Last Time', '19th Nervous Breakdown', 'Jumping Jack Flash', 'Time Is On My Side', 'Get Off My CLoud', 'Ruby Tuesday' and 'Brown Sugar' |

Yeah I think they're great, in fact I was going to go and see them with my dad at the Phoenix Park but now I hear they've cancelled the gig :( Maybe it had something to do with Keef falling out of his tree in Fiji? |

I like them, but I think that Queen should be as big over here in the state as they are!!! I think their a bit overrated, but I do like some of their songs, would consider getting their greatest hits....the song 'Brown Sugar' is a bit offensive....mmmmmmmmmm :< |

i saw them at the American Super Bowl and it was so freaking hilarious.... Mick was wearing these ridiculous shoes.....so funny... |
RETROLOVE 02.07.2006 18:51 |
I just never have understood WHY the Rolling stones were more popular over here in the states than Queen....never understood it...I actually do like the RS, but Queen was way more hella-talented then them....at least in my opinion. I tell my friends all the time, and people in general, that YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE A GOOD VOICE to have a hit song, album, etc. And I always thought that Mick had/has an okay voice, but it didnt even compare to Freddies!!!!! I'm like, okay, the states reject Queen because their a 'gay band?' THATS THE MOST STUPID SHIT THAT I HAVE EVER EVER EVER HEARD!!!! So what if the lead singer was gay....they were still talented, and just because he was gay, it doesnt make the other three homosexuals!!!! And Mick was bi himself, so I dont understand WHY they excepted the stones, but not Queen???? |

I do not like the Rolling Stones. On a musical level, I think that their music is a total rip off of black music that came out 10 years earlier. I am not aware that they really contributed anything original to music, and their songs are ridiculously repetitive to the point of being indolent. I also do not see any signs of exceptional musical talent from any of the band's members. Some people also act like Mick Jagger was a great performer. Maybe he was, but compare his performance to Freddie Mercury at Live Aid, and there is little doubt as to who the truly great entertainer was. |
rockyracoon 03.07.2006 01:30 |
Amen to Fat Queen Pig. Queen's music was/is superbly constructed. The Rolling Stones' music showed no imagination and was designed only to stimulate our most base instincts. On a musical level, Queen leaves most other bands in the dust. From my perspective, the only other bands which showed any level of consistent creativity and musical excellence were the Beatles and Pink Floyd. |

I personally cant stand them, I hate the way they sound so scrappy, like they have took no care over the guitar tone and everything sounds so messy. Any Mick Jaggar in my opinion is the most over-rated singer along with axl rose and shaun ryder! I think thats why I love queen so much, everythings precise and accurate and so well sung! |

And well, for all this people who said that they suck, well, almost the entire band in the world after the stones were influenced by them,, so they are somethin special peace |

Here's what I think : meh. Some of their songs are good, I think, like that one about wild horses dragging him away (ha-ha, sorry, can't remember the title, is it Wild Horses?) but I don't find most of their catalogue interesting enough to bother pursuing further. Believe me I have tried to get into their music, it just... bleh, Mick Jagger just isn't a good enough singer to keep me interested. I wouldn't be the first person to notice that "One Vision" might've borrowed a bit from "Start Me Up", would I? |

I love the Stones. Mick Jagger is a flamboyant showman in a similar vein to Fred and although their music is more direct and less polished than Queen, it is still highly entertaining. "Now I'm Here", is very Stones influenced, rather like the sound of them doing heavy metal, with the rollicking piano in the background and gutsy riffs. In fact it can be argued that the Stones were proto hard rock so Queen have something to owe to them. |
Oszmercury 05.07.2006 17:23 |
well, a lot of freddie appearance was influenced by Jagger's style early 70's, so as i said before, almost all the bands created around 66's to date 've been influenced by the stones |

Roots of both Freddie's and Mick's stage appearance were grown from early rock'n'roll heroes: Elvis, Chuck Berry and so on. So ofcourse there are some similar things. But for me stage countenances of Mick and Freddie are total opposte. And remember what Roger said about it in interview on Wembley dvd. Something like: "Freddie will not run like Mick Jagger, it's the last thing he whants to do". I agree on 100% with him. As for music I agree that Stones are borring at least for me. Also I think that they kind of have lack of musicanship. |
