I want to know what do you guys think I should start with. I think I'm gonna buy their very first CD and just work my way around it...what do you guys personal think, and how many 'offical' studio albums do they have in all? |
Nathan 01.07.2006 17:18 |
Well, they have 15 studio albums in all, from Queen to Made In Heaven. Personally, I think you should begin with the early stuff, starting from Queen. Also, you should definitley consider investing in A Night at the Opera. I think from Queen to Jazz is a good starting point. As for live albums, definitley start off with Live at Wembley and Live at the Bowl. Pure magic. Live Killers is also a good listen of late seventies Queen, but only buy Live Magic if you are a die-hard collector. (That said, it does offer songs completley as they were heard live, with no overdubbings at all, but the length of most of the songs is cut to pieces) |

I think starting off with their very first CD is a great idea. My collection started off with their Greatest Hits Platinum Collection. My dad bought it for me as a Birthday present. My collection grew from there. So, far I have "Queen", "News of the World, and "A Night at the Opera" as well as the "Platinum Collection". I highly recommend any of these. I always save a little money and go to the record store about once every two weeks and pick up a CD. My next purchase will hopefully be "Sheer Heart Attack". My Queen DVD collection is growing too. I recieved "Greatest Video Hits vol.1" as a Graduation Present. I also have "Live at Wembley" and "Live at the Bowl". |

I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS! The way i chose which ones to get (based on availability when im shopping) are the ones where I didnt have the majority of songs already on my Greatest Hits CD's.... Like the first time i came across SHEER HEART ATTACK and THE GAME, i had SAVE ME, PLAY THE GAME and AOBTD on my greatest Hits CD, so i went with SHEER HEART ATTACK because the only songs i knew of from there were IN THE LAP OF THE GODS and KILLER QUEEN and wanted to experience the NON-HITS of Queen, but the undiscovered Gems... And i'm glad i did! They're all great albums because no two are alike. But QUEEN is an awesome album for a debut album. QUEEN II is another awesome one!! So if you're having a hard time choosing try my philosophy if it appeals to ya or j/ go in order... cuz i couldnt pick... In fact i've still got a few i dont have yet... |

There's DANCE Queen and there's ROCK Queen. 1980s had both on all their albums. Their 1990s albums didn't have much dancing except You Don't Fool Me from Made In Heaven. If you're more of a pop fan, 80s is for you. If you're more of a rock fan, you should go with 70s Queen, but keep in mind, there isn't one album lacking a hard rock song. Hot Space has 'Put Out The Fire' |
Chris L ♣ 06.07.2006 00:19 |
I started out by getting "Queen Greatest Hits". Then from there I got every cd of theirs that I could find. 70's, 80's, and 90's. Then I got their videos. I figure a true Queen fan will get their hands on just about any album or video, whether its good, bad or ugly. That's what I'm in the process of doing. I even have "Queen + Paul Rodgers" cd and video. Hey what can I say, I love their music!!!!! |
