What is everyone's opinion on this song. I gotta be honest I never really liked it until I heard the 'Freddie version'. It's so mean but the video for Brians made me laugh and the beginning, with the wind and the lighting and the zoom in. It seemed so over-acted. The song is a lovely one though. I nearly cried in the part where Bri seems to have tears in his eyes. But I got a lump in my throat when I heard Freddie sing the song. God what a voice. It seemed like no-one would replace him.
So I like TMLWKY with Freddie singing much more but they are both warm, heartbreaking and touching. Just it sounds better with Freddie Singing.
Yeah, that's truth: "Don't watch the video, focous in the song"
I love the two versions: Brian's voice is so incredible, and Freddie's is unique... so I take both.
On the other hand, what do you think about "Heaven for everyone"... in my opinion, Roger's version is a little bit more pop. I prefer the Queen version
They are both very good. But back in 1992, I always thought to myself, I bet Freddie singing this would've been amazing. And then MIH comes along and I get my wish. And it delivered! I have a place for Brian's version, but I really like hearing Fred singing it.
But in general, a lot of Queen fans go with Brian's version, understandably.
Peace,
Adam.
Well, I'll tellya. I actually heard Freddie's version before I heard Brian's.
They are both wonderful, but I'm in the Brian camp on this one.
Oddly enough, as wonderful and emotional as Freddie's singing is of this song, it still seems somehow "controlled" to me, as if he's holding something back - whereas Brian really sounds (to me) like he's putting himself out there emotionally. I find his version to be quite honest and compelling.
I can't listen to Brian in this one. He makes it sound physically painful to sing. Freddie's packs a punch for me. In his version he sounds powerful yet vulnerable. My opinion, only.

I can't stand that electric piano arrangement. It's suitable for Elaine Paige dressed up as a cat.
Too Much of the video for Brian's version will surely kill me.
Both Too Much Love and Heaven For Everyone demonstrate that Freddie was a much better singer than both Brian and Roger.
Yet, I still prefer Brian's and Roger's versions, since they're more "human", and they deliver the lyrics better imo.
I've heard too much "Too Much Love Will Kill You" . both versions are great.with alittle diffrent Vocal Meolody and the music harmony.
but I'm really sorry for brian with that freaky video. just look at all those powerfull videos of queen, freddie and roger solos and make a compare with brian's . Oh Brian I Love your song but i Hate your video making.
Freddie's (Queen) version is more powerful vocally and musically I think.
Brian sings it too soft. I'm more of a rock fan and Freddie's vocals = rock sounds. I love the version when Freddie sings it. It just seems SO powerful and he hits the notes and his vocals are louder throwing more emotion at you.
As for the video, imagine if there was a video with Freddie singing it, and then compare it to Brian's video. You know how Freddie is in videos, far more experienced for the film.

Did you just *hear* it, or was your first experience the music video?
I first actually heard Brian's version watching the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert. Although I think Freddie was a better singer Brian's verion is heartfelt. Then again so is Freddie's.
Freddie's version is far better, simple as that. It needs power and he gave it.

I really prefer the Freddie-versions of both Too much love will kill you and Heaven for everyone. Why? Because Brians voice is way too weak to sing TMLWKY. It's like he can't reach the higher notes in that song. And he doesn't have power in his voice too. I mean, listen to the big "Yeah" towards the end of the song. You must admit that Freddie's version is wayyyyyyy better!!
I always feel that Brian should only sing in normal ranges in which he doesn't have to sing high notes. He should leave the high singing to Freddie (and Roger!). Brian's better with guitars then Freddie. Every single member has his own qualities and singing is in my humble opinion not Brian's quality, sorry, if this may offend the die-hard Brian fans around here.
As for Roger: I think he has a cool, rough, husky voice and I really don't mind that he sings his own songs. They are his songs after all. But Heaven for everyone on Shove it is too poppy for me. I like the Made in Heaven version better!!!
When I compare Roger to Brian, I think that Roger's singing is far better than Brian's. Sorry again for my opinion!! I do not mean to hurt or offend people, it's just how I think about this.

I have a lot of fondness for the song. It's one of Brian's best vocal performances in my opinion.
I yhink that both of them are good. Freddies version is really really great, but it seems like that he just sings the song as good as he he can. When you compare to brian who delivers the text with much more feelings. when I listen to Brian I feel much more that he really has gone through with the things he sing, then Freddie. Brian sounds like an old man who really knows that it's a real disaster to be torn between 2 lovers. Can't really feel that when I listen to Freddie...
