they say that the burns replica is made using in expensive materials to make it affordable thee tremolo to the burns replica is close to 40 dollars itself and looks nothing like it would on the red special it self they should have used a kay vintage tremolo which is higly identical to mr mays guitar and its 20 dollars and under and it doesnt require a backplate like the one thats on the market now it just bolts on. and above all its frictionless so what was the company thinking when they installed such a thing they degraded a legendary piece of work. in my opinion everything else is gold butthe tremolo makes it look like a fender straight out not a red special.

Yeah but you seem to be missing something. They degraded the price too. If I had to pay anymore for that fucking guitar I would have to have stolen it. You're a genius.

they are over pricing the red special and its not not even monies worth it doesnt look anything like it the slide switches are balck the tremolo doesnt fit with it the grover tuners should be schaller i want justice.
im talking about the one that is being launced 2006
it exactly the same. so it makes no difference which model. the new one is only gonna have a pickguard around the tremolo which as i said could have been the kay nos tremolo.

Oh no. I bought a guitar with *black* switches. Someone hold me before I fall over and cry.
Ha-ha, shows what you know... I've had mine for a month and I'd readily put it above similarly priced 'other' guitars, having had the fun opportunity to play on my brother's flashy Strat from some anniversary or another.
I just cannot believe you've started a thread lambasting the Burns guitar (or the new 2006 ones, whatever) without so much as really talking about what they're like to play. Shouldn't that be one's chief criticism of a guitar?
well ill put my red special above all it awsome to play there is no sound like it and the reason i think the burns special is not as good because compared to the red special i built which is similar to the guild 84 model but with burns pickups white slide switches and a kay vintage tremolo it in my opinion sound more crisp and clean compared to the burns.plus im a real fan of the red special so im like big on the look and sound of the actuall and plus afforadability is always important.

Aha! Discussion of the sound, excellent.
Well... can't say because I don't have your Red Special to do side-by-side comparisons :P I can but say that the Burns gets one very close to *that* sound provided they play it with the correct accents and they use a nice amp (Laney AC15 sounds good).
But could you compare it to the first Burns release? A comparison between that and the 2006 version would be interesting. See if there are differences.
Peace,
Adam.
Surely the only difference is a cosmetic tailpiece cover?
Which usher finds newly offensive.
Maybe I'm not understanding the problem because I went for the non-stock colour - my black switches are therefore in contrast to the pickguard - and don't use tremeloes anyway.
by all means if your gonna use a pick guard cover fro a red special atleast be decent enough to use it on actual knife edge tremolo which the actual red special not to just put it there for decoration.
and for other refrence this is the link to the kay style vintage which would work good for the burns. link
The Kay Trem might look a little more authentic if it was mounted in the body with the black cover over it, but that won't make up for the fact that they are complete SHIT. I would rather not have a Trem than have one of those.
it is mounted in the body of my special which took alot of alchemy to begin with but it worked and mine does not have the metal tremolo cover it went in the body without it and then i covered it with a pickguard cover which gives the cover some actual use other than decoration. but its an excellent tremolo.
