Thanks for sharing this P.G - I'm guessing this would be from the "Another World" era ? Brian talked about how he originally wanted to make an album of covers in an interview . |

fab! and google always helps> link a japanese collectors page has the following info: COZY POWELL / ALIVE IN STUDIO II = Ultra rare studio demos collection taken from Cozy Powell's personal cassette tapes LANGLEY (1CD) SBD. Disc1: THE MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP The tracks are from the demos and sessions for the 2nd album of Michael Schenker Groupwhich later released in 1981. 1. ATTACK OF THE MAD AXE MAN 2. ON AND ON 3. BUT I WANT MORE OVER THE TOP SESSIONS The tracks are from the first overdub session for Over The Top. Dave Clempson later replaced the guitar with his own sessions, for "The Loner"the part was originally for Jeff Beck, and Dave made a great replacement. The version of "Heidi" with guitar is a one off, the released version has no guitar. There are very rare sessions indeed, the backing tracks with only Cozy and Jack with Max or Don are unique and much longer than the released versions. 4. HEIDI GOES TO TOWN #1 5. HEIDI GOES TO TOWN #2 6. SWEET POISON #1 (lead & rythmn guitars) 7. SWEET POISON #2 (rythmn guitars) 8. SWEET POISON #3 (backing track, no guitar) 9. THE LONER #1 (lead guitar) 10. THE LONER #2 (backing track, no guitar) BRIAN MAY 11. (MARIE'S THE NAME OF)HIS LATEST FLAME (Elvis Presley cover) PETER GREEN'S SPLINTER GROUP 12. WALK DON'T RUN (The Ventures cover) |

Could anybody "rapidshare" it? Megaupload ALWAYS says the maximum number of connections for my country is reached. I have already tried about 30 proxies, without success. Thanks, Ogre- |

Nice (as in the finding of a completely unknown demo, rather than the music itself, which makes me want to eat my own teeth)! Cheers PG. |

I know Sebastian has Japanese contacts. I have sent an e-mail re: purchasing this item - so hopefully the receiver reads English! |

*edited: don't bother to read this below - Brian will tell you a different, better story soon!* The full version lasts for 3 minutes sharp. It's rather interesting - you get an overal idea of the entire song by the sample though. It's a 'full song' demo, so no strange bridges, pauses or lalala's. There is a short bridge though with only drums, whcih sounds like there was supposed to be a solo added. Oh yes, and Brian is giving a very fine example of a blue note! ;-))) Guitar, vocals and drums only. (Though the guitar is already doubled and there are backingvocals - all Brian's btw) No this is not from Another World era or the Heroes-album sessions. It's from a Cozy Powell solo-thing. According to Cozy's personal notes on his original cassette - the Japanese website is also wrong about when this was recorded. It is supposed to be from the late 80's (which definately makes sence: listen to Brian's guitar; sounds like it's the same one as used for Stealin') and was part of multiple sessions with different musicians. Eventually an album never materialised - because in the middel of recording Cozy abandoned the tapes to team up with Dutch guitar legend JAN AKKERMAN (Focus) - one of the guys that had turned up for one of those earlier mentioned sessions and also recorded a demo with ;-) After Jan, Cozy went straight into Black Sabbath and did not touch his tapes anymore. In the early ninetees he unfolded some of the tracks and invited some of his guests from back then into his studio again to do some other tracks: this became the better known album The Drums Are Back (the one with Ride The Night/Resurrection and Somewhere in Time/Nothing But Blue)... Time to get this one out then... No, sorry, I am not allowed to upload the track - but feel free to make me a trade offer by e-mail. |

The Loner, that one is originally from Gary Moore, right? That one is really awesome, it's just instrumental, but some beautiful guitar playing by Mr. Moore. Or is this a completely different song by Brian? |

Interesting what infomration comes to light when little is offered..... I got this from Dime, and am impressed with whoever found the Cozy bootleg as I don't think there's any obvious way of getting there - searching for the song title would bring up (presumably) hundreds of Elvis sites. It highlights how blinkered we are when looking at Dime & how many hidden gems there are out there (eg the Def Leppard 83 show with Brian was on there a while back, a PR 94 show with Brian has also been on). Also interesting to see who had it and who didn't. Thanks for playing.... |
