For the past few weeks, i've been completely unable to get onto queenzone from home. I've tried from my desktop and my laptop, using both IE and Firefox, and still no joy. I can only get on at work at the moment. Any ideas?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Sounds weird but its possible in my household...
other members of my family don't like Queen and it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they found a way to ban it. Either in the browsers banned sites list or by using some protection software like Norton Internet Security.
Still no joy - I got in touch with Tiscali (my ISP) who asked me to change some big long number in the internet options tab, but that didn't work either, so I'm going to have to get back to them again.
Once again, if anyone can suggest anything, please do!
It must be the settings of your internet browser. If you use IE, go to tools---> internet options ---> advanced and compare your settings on your work computer with the settings on your home computer. If you can use your account from your work place there must be a way to use it from your home PC.
Still not working, GKR?
What actually happens? Do you immediately get Page Cannot Be Displayed, or does your browser time-out after trying to load/look for the page?
If you've tried IE and Firefox on both your laptop and your desktop, it's unlikely to be browser settings that are the issue, but the way to tell completely would be to take your laptop into work and use the internet connection there (if that's possible) and see if you can view it then.
If you can, the problem MUST be with your Tiscali connection, in which case it would be a routing issue, which they'd have to resolve.
Can you ping and traceroute to Queenzone OK?
i am glad to see i am not alone on this
been viewing from home for years and suddenly--page is down or removed messages or can not be displayed....
i thought was time out issue but not...
i went to google and tried links to zone too and got the same result....
any suggestions would be apprieciated
This happened to me all this week. Everything was fine until about two weeks ago when every time I accessed this site, my page either froze or I received an IE error saying the page had to close.
This week, I only received a 'cannot display page'notice. I went through terrible withdrawal and then suddenly - just now! - the site loaded. But I still don't know what happened. I actually thought someone had sabotaged Queenzone. :-(
Folks, as suspected by both myself and Bohardy, it is definitely my tiscali connection. As I said in an earlier post, I tried to get help from them with little success. However, I have found a solution... next door have an unsecured wireless connection which is all too easy to 'borrow' when I want to get on QZ ;)

On IE I just get 'Page cannot be displayed, whereas on Firefox, it just times out and says that the server at link is not responding. Damned tiscali.
However, as I said in my previous post, my neighbours are currently solving the issue for me!
GKR - If you wanna fix this you'll need to show Tiscali what happens when you attempt a traceroute to link.
If you don't know how to do this then hold down your Windows key and press 'r' to open the Run command. Then type 'cmd' and press OK (or 'command' if you're on Win2000 or earlier) to open the command/DOS prompt.
Once in there, type 'tracert link and hit enter. What will probably happen is that the traceroute won't complete, and you'll get a timeout within the first few hops, which proves a routing problem on the Tiscali network.
Here's what a successful traceroute should look like:

Trace complete.

If indeed it doesn't complete, copy your results (right-click, select 'mark' and then highlight the results from the top left corner, then hit enter to copy the text) and include them in an email to Tiscali explaining the problem. They'll need to re-jig the routing tables, and your problem should be no more!
Thanks for the info bohardy - I emailed it all home in a word document, and I've just got back, was about to try it, but I thought 'I'll just give it a try' and QZ connected no problem! My connection is cured!!!! But I'll keep your instructions to hand just in case!
