So what do we think of The Captain?
On Friday 16th June and Monday 19th June (the day I started work experience in the IT department of the local council) I bought in Woolworths on Friday 'Captain Fantastic And The Brown Dirt Cowboy' and on Monday in a Lowestoft based record shop called Disc Chord I bought 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road'. They are part of a collection called 'Elton John:The Classic Years which was released in 1995 as being remastered just like Queen albums in 1993. That is every Elton album from his 1969 debut 'Empty Sky' to his 1975 album 'Rock Of The Westies'.
These are the albums in this collection:
Empty Sky (1969): No hit singles
Elton John (1970): Your Song
Tumbleweed Connection (1970): No hit singles
Madman Across The Water (1971): Tiny Dancer
Honky Chateau (1972): Rocket Man and Honky Cat
Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player (1973): Daniel and Crocodile Rock
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (1973): Bennie And The Jets, Candle In The Wind, Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Caribou (1974): The Bitch Is Back and Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me
Captain Fantastic And The Brown Dirt Cowboy (1975): Someone Saved My Life Tonight
Rock Of The Westies (1975): Island Girl
I LOVE Elton John...he's my next favorite artist after Queen...I've listened to him growing up...so his music is apart of me. But he's got an amazing voice along with lyrics and melodies.
Cheers

Amazing, I thought he was ace at Live 8 last year. I am a big fan of all his music, but I just wish the fat little po faced mard arse would keep his dummy in from time to time.
I wonder what David Furnish sees in Multi Millionaire Elton?!
I think Elton John is great. I've just recently started listening to him, but so far, it's all peachy! :D

The way he sings the opening lines of Tiny Dancer is amazing. I really like his singing these years the best. My favorite album is "Tumbleweed Connection".
IMO Elton has become much too unexciting over the years. I think "A single man" was his last interesting album.
'Songs From The West Coast' was a quite decent effort where Elton took some of his early work elements and re-invented them.
'PeachTree Road' on the other hand was just plain boring.
I like most of Elton's singles. I've tried listening to all the CDs I have (I have a lot), but I just can't get into all of the songs for some reason.
I certainly appreciate him for his music though.
I like Elton John. I especially like 'Candle in the Wind', 'Can You Feel The Love Tonight?' and 'Rocket Man'.
I've only ever heard his greatest hits album, though.
And he was great at Live Aid too.
He writes good songs and is a great piano player. He always puts on a good show. But his voice sucks now. Back in the 70's before constant touring took its toll, his voice was so great. Even in the 80's, it just wasn't the same.
Take a look at his production-rate in the seventies. Music was pouring out of his veins and great albums came out faster than they could be promoted. Those really were his classic years.
