Ok, so I have to ask you guy who were big Queen fans in 1990-1991. When you say the Headlong, Days of Our Lives, Slightly Mad videos...what was going through your head? Did you think Freddie was sick? Did you think he was going through another physical change as he did in the '80s? I'm curious to know what people thought about his grim appearance and black and white videos as they were being put out. Thanks.
That's a good question in which no one gives a correct answer.
I'd even like to know what they thought of Freddie's appearence during I Want It All, Scandal, Breakthru', The Miracle, and The Invisible Man.
I thought he could have aids, as i seen rock hudsons picture in 1985, and a few others, Freddie had lesions on his face in I want it all if you look close, so combined with that and basicly staying more or less out of the public eye you know deep down something is not right, my sis had aclose friend who had aids in the 80's and he had that gaunt look and the wasting,
he also passed awat a couple years later. and when aids was going strong in the 80's freddie was supposedly in new york parting hardy, sadly
it was to be his downfall.
Well at first the bearded look I thought was just another image change. it seemed to tie in with his new, respectable image that he'd been cultivating since '86 and seemed to show him in a mature light. Then I saw the video for Scandal and began to think something was wrong- there'd been obvious weight loss and he was looking disproportionatley older. That was coupled with his gaunt appearance at the Brit awards which shocked me a lot. From then on, I became convinced he was ill. The thing that did it completely though, was the IGSM video. He looked awful on that.

Well I'll go through it for you.
IWIA- I was taken aback by the beard and the conventional clothes. He didn't move much either but he looked full in the face; jus tolder, not at all ill for me.
Breakthru-Fred looked fine too here. Colour in his face, a bit more energetic than IWIA as well. He looked how he did the year before, perhaps a little trimmer and older.
Invisible MAN- This was released summer '89 when rumours were beginning to start. So this was the first video I considered within that context. To me he looked fine.
Scnadal and tHE mIRACLE- I began to worry here. He'd lost a lot of weight in his face since IWIA and his clothes seemed to hang off him. His eyes were quite lined and the kids palying them, added to my suspicions.
December 1990-January 1991 was around the time "Headlong" came out, debuted #6 on Billboard AOR charts (highest debut single that week)
I started to hear "I Can't Live with You" on radio in April 1991, but the "Innuendo" video was on Headbanger's Balls, out also in the early part of 1991. "These Are the Days of Our Lives" started later in the summer in August with the Axl Rose tv special.
Honestly, I don't remember much of "The Show Must Go On" on radio or tv in the fall of 1991, although it was in my car's tape deck night and day.

Do you mean These Are The Days Of Our Lives was on the radio in late summer? Or the video was being played?
I remember there was a rumor of freddie having aids, but I didn't believe it until I read the lyrics to slightly mad and the show must go on. then I saw the video these are the days of our lives and then I knew for sure.
