Sorry guys, but I have to vent. Why must parents be so pushy and nosey? I just graduated HS almost two weeks ago and have applied for Jobs already. My mom keeps pushing me to apply to more places. I already applied at like 5 different f#@$ing places. OK, I realize that I don't have a life, and that I need to get a job, but I hate getting pushed into things that I don't want to do. Can't she understand that I already applied to like 5 stores to work? What does she think I am, a F@#%ing workhorse? And she's SO nosey. Like today, she called me up every freakin hour to see what I'm doing. WHAT THE HELL!!?? I'm sorry guys for venting like this, but thanks for listening.I had to get that off my chest. You fellow Queen fans are the best. I think I'm now going to go listen to my GH Platinum edition! |

I have a very nosey great-grandmother, she's 95 and she feels the need to know where I am 24 hours a day. It's quite funny, if a little irritating. As for pushy, I've never experienced that, I'm allowed to do pretty much what I want. |
~im a fool~ 16.06.2006 20:01 |
me! i have to ask to do what ever i want! but thats always with my mom. my dad lets me do anything i want. most of the time. |

All parents are pushy and nosey to some extent, but definitely some are worse than others. I work with this Russian woman who is the most nosey person I've met in my entire fuckin' life. She's always asking me shit about my personal life, and can't keep her goddamn mouth shut. What pisses me off the most is that many times she comes to my office to open my fuckin' window when I want to keep it closed. Just for the record, we don't even work in the same office, but she still comes to my fuckin' office and opens it and then tells me:... "I think some air would be good for you". She tells me all the time that her younger daughter never answers her cell phone, and you don't know how many times I feel like telling her... "I DON'T BLAME HER". If this woman is as nosey as she is with me, imagine how nosey she must be with her daughters. If someone gave me the choice between the electric chair, and sharing the same roof with that woman as a mother, I'd be like... WHERE DO I PLUG IT IN? |

As parents, we have to be somewhat pushy and nosy. It's our job... and not always one we volunteered for. Can anyone say, "oops!"? To the original poster - applying for a job in 5 places isn't enough. Your mom might be pushing you so you see what the real world is like now that you're out of school. You can't say, 'well, I did what I had to do, now I'll sit back and wait'. It just doesn't work that way. You have to keep going out there to get what you want/need. It might just be her way of preparing you. As for nosy, parents are paranoid where their kids' safety is concerned. And we also have better memories than most people think. We were teens, too. We KNOW what you're doing because we did it also, and that scares the hell out of us. Some go to an extreme, but mostly, pushy and nosy parents are just trying to keep their kids alive and happy. Give them a break next time. They're doing it out of love. |

I know that I told you guys that you were the best, and I just wanted you to know that I really mean it! You all listened and gave me some good advice and that's what I needed. You all are great friends, even though I never met you all in person. I took this weekend to get away and spent it at the drag races, my second love. Queen is my first love, and by the way, that's all I listened to on the way to and from the race track. That's why I haven't been on much to chat the past two days. It felt good to just get away and not worry about my Mom breathing down my back. Now, it's time to continue looking and putting in applications. Hopefully, the right job will turn up. Wish me luck! *hugs and kisses from the May-niac!* |

In your parents defence, having a child graduate HS is a huge change. With any luck, they will settle down as you settle into your adult life. What kind of car do you run at the strip? I am hoping to get my car into good enough shape to have a little fun. Hoping to break into the 13s with my daily driven Taurus SHO. My true passion is the road course. Sadly, I can't afford to get the car on the track this summer. Next summer, I am planning to schedule a few weekends at a couple different tracks. Best of luck to you! Mike |

You know, living in the same house as my dad is really becoming more and more difficult each day. If I didn't have my mam I'd be lost. Sometimes I envy my friends' family situations. I don't even talk to my friends about my own family situation. I don't know, I suppose I'm just scared of how they would react to it. The only thing that really gets me through is listening to Queen, chatting to all you lovely people on Queenzone and knowing that I've still got my mam around. |

She's always like " I saw you with a boy the other day, tell me who he is, or i'm gonna tell mom!". and sometimes she's ransacking my room, and tells all her friends what she finds. The other day, she found a g-string, and now she's talking about it in front of everybody! Sometimes i wanna kill her! And she is stealing my Queen cd's! MY QUEEN CD'S!! and sometimes, she logs on my msn and writes shit to my friends and everybody! once a time, I told her about a boy I met at a party (naughty things happend) and 2 days later, the whole city knew it! stupid kid. |

I love my parents and they do a HELL of A LOT for me... My parents are rather annoying at times too. My dads on my arse about jobs and I'm only 16. Because last summer i worked two, babysat everyday and McDonalds on the weekends and some weeknights. And i dont have a job at all right now, although im looking. I've applied to atleast 7 places taht will hire anyone under the age of 18. And i've even called my supervisior SEVERAL time at Macky D's because im still "employed" there perdeium because there was no way i was gonna juggle my junior year of high school with AP and honors classes and SATS etc with a job. And he hasnt called me back about getting on the shedual. But i still cant get my parents off my arse about it... I'm only 16, i worked my ass off last summer, am i not allowed some down time too? But i do need a job... And my dad talks down to me in regards to college too in these matter of fact tones like im an idiot. And we get in battles over it because he takes these unnecessary tones with me that gets me on the defensive once we get into the conversation, because he doesnt listen to what i say fully. |
