this may be a bit silly but...
i understand Queen has been known to be "tongue in cheek" (seaside rendezvous, i'm going slightly mad...), but..."gimmie fried chicken"? i think i missed something.
are they just being silly, or did i miss something? (dont get me wrong, i love this song. i just want to know if i'm just dense or if i didnt really get the joke.)
You didn't miss anything, they were just being silly. :)
Okay, now that we're into questioons.. :P Ya know the video of "In My Defence"? Yes? Well, you know that part when Freddie is dressed in leather, and has this hat, and he's standing next to this other man? And then jumps up on him and knocks him down? Well, what video is that from?.. Thanks for any help.

They went out to KFC or something after recording, might not of been KFC, but it was in fact a fried chicken fast food place, and they came back to finish the song, and Freddie thought about 'Gimme Fried Chicken' and Jim Hutton said it was a good idea as well.

In Mercury & Me, Jim mentions that Freddie put that line in as a joke and wanted to take it out, but Jim thought it wouldn't matter if they kept it because they were a well-respected band and it wouldn't matter if they put a weird line in it so there you go!
Queen used to play versions of the studio sessions to cool off and basically have some fun after the gruelling work! That is just one example of many 'alternative lyric' momemts especially for One Vision -you can see some on the Magic Years Compilation.Either that or there is a KFC or something close to Musicland In Munich where Freddie visited to grab a Bargain Bucket for the lads and was then inspired for the ending of their new song- I will let you all guess which one is correct-You may be suprised!!
