How come Freddie's verse doesn't rhyme in the same way as Roger's and Brian's? I really like the song, but this thing always bothers me... Does anybody know the story behind this? Is it a mistake? |

I mean; they DO rhyme, it's just that Freddie's verse follow a different rhyming-rule. Very rare. |

its poetry, doll, it just doesnt work to pick it apart and dissect by asking questions like that. as long as it sounds proper, things dont have to rhyme at all. |

A lyric doesn't have to rhyme my friend |

That's not what I was trying to say. deadbird wrote: its poetry, doll, it just doesnt work to pick it apart and dissect by asking questions like that. as long as it sounds proper, things dont have to rhyme at all.I am of a different opinion on this one. just because it is a very special case. Things don't have to rhyme, sure, but I was curious if anyone knew of a backgroundstory on how this came to be. |

Brian: "Errr Freddie, have you noticed by any chance that the verse you've written for this new song has a different rhyming pattern to the rest of the song? Do you think this could confuse our fans?" Freddie: "Bugger off..." |

Well, if it's the three of them singing, who cares if the styles (of writing) are different? Just because the first is different certainly doesn't mean it'll be classed as a mistake. What an insult to the song. It may not have been planned this way, I'm not sure, but I don't think it really matters. I really love the track. Peace, Adam. |

Surely "cut it like a knife" doesn't actually make any sense either? |

But it's like you make an agreement with your audience in the first verse and then you break the agreement in the next verses. That's a mistake they could have corrected, I think. |

The BIG question is, who wrote the lyrics. Is there only one writer, or is this a collaboration between many lyricists. Further, we don't know when lyrics were written. Perhaps some of the lyrics come from mid-80's and some were re-written after Freddie's death. Just a thought... |

Brian: Say, I was thinking of changing the rhyming scheme for my verse. D'you mind? Roger: Naah. Freddie? Freddie: I'm DEAD, you nitwits! |
kohuept 15.06.2006 12:38 |
Yeah, Freddie wrote/recorded his part (and some piano, too - I think) in the 80s. I think it was supposed to be with Rod Stewart. The rest of the song was written by the other 3 after Freddie died. |

Misunderstood or disregarded? As strange as this may be to you, it's a song. The time changes in BohRhap are not mistakes - that's how the song is supposed to be. I know your observation is much different than that, but it is really hard to prove a 'mistake' in art. Sounds cheesy, but it's true. Either way, I've never noticed this before and will have to keep an ear out next time I hear LML. |

This song is like this now so I know it might be offending to call it a mistake. Still; take another listen and then, if you will, try to find me another example where a song don't follow the same rhyming-rule from beginning to end. Like you said it's not like the timechanges in Borap. I suspect this is a misunderstanding, while Borap is a work of genius. |

Vulcan wrote: Surely "cut it like a knife" doesn't actually make any sense either?...Art... Come to think about it; I shouldn't accuse Brian here because his verse rhymes like Roger's but also nearly enough rhymes like Freddie's. Knife/lie might be close enough... |
