I had a dream last night, and I swear to you that I had heard a alternate or remixed version of 'I Want It All' in my dream. It sounded so bad ass, I couldn't begin to explain!! I wish I could do this kind of stuff myself, but with lack of technoligical knowledge and even the know how of how to do this stuff, I can't mix it myself. Any takers on the idea?? I can explain the whole song, because I can still hear it in my head...it was THAT good!!
Then explain what you still hear in your head! I did a mix for myself long ago, deleted Brian's vocals, because in my opinion he can't sing. And edited some parts. So if what you hear in your head sounds similar like my mix I try to upload it for you. I never did before, so not sure if I can do it.
I'm talking about the actual album version...not the single version...Darcy did a mix of 'Hammer To Fall' a while back (which if you haven't heard it, download it...it's THAT good!!), which was a mix of the regular version and the headbanger's version. Anyway in the beginning of my version of 'I Want It All', it has the guitar going through a phaser, and then seconds before the drums start, there's a bing BANG (think the end gunshot of Hammer To Fall'), the drums esp. the snare has alot more clarity and reverb to them, as does Freddie's voice. The guitar has alot more crunch to it. Brian's voice is still in the middle of course but has some kind of vocal treatment, maybe some echo, and then during the faster double time part, the guitars are doubled and going through a phaser, the solo itself is standing out and going from side to side of the speakers, and the end part of the solo, it's harmonized and just in your face!! Like I said I wish I could do this stuff myself, because I can hear it in my head, but probably can't explain it even HALF as well as I hear it. But it's just got harmonies everywhere, and it rocks even harder than the original version!! That said, 'I Want It All' is my favorite Queen song (it's what got me into them in the first place really). So if there are any takers out there, please...take a chance and have a go at it!! I'd love to hear what all of you can create!! There are some damn good mixers here on Queenzone, and I haven't been let down yet by any of you guys!! I hope my explanation was somewhat thorough. Any questions, please feel free to ask!!!
Then my remix is not what you heard in your dreams. Actually this was the first mix I ever did. I did some editings and tried to learn to work with the editing program. But it is done mostly with the album version. So I uploaded it for you as it is your favourite Queen song. Maybe you enjoy it anyway. It has only some edits here and there and no reverbs or phasers like you wished, sorry. link
It's a good mix Fast Max, no denying...even without the middle part with Brian singing it makes a good transition, but it's kind of missing something at that point, and the only other comment is I like the changes you made in the beginning, but it kind of drags a little, but I liked your ideas nonetheless...other than that, it's a great mix...far from what was in my dream obviously, but a fine mix indeed!! Pat yourself on the back for your effort!! And please keep up the good work!!
Well, at least you liked it a little. I knew it is not what you wanted but I thought you might anyway want to listen to it.
But who knows, maybe someone else might do a mix more like the one in your dreams.
Well, that is certainly a dream mix, Chefman. I did something a while back, which was fairly similar to the 'anonymous' version posted here, but with a different intro. I found it frustrating that there is only a 5.1 mix of the single version available, and mixing that with the 2 channel album version, to get the fullest version possible, was a bit of a EQ nightmare, so at the time I gave it up as a bad job. It's certainly something I might like to try again, when I get the time, especially as I now have the instrumental version to work with as well, but unfortunately, it won't be much before August, as I am just too busy until then.
By the way, not a bad version posted by max_fast, but I'm afraid I didn't like the cut in the middle. You can't please everyone! ;)
Thank you PunkRocker for uploading that...it is a sweet mix as well, but still far from what I had in mind!! And Mr. Fickle, I'm a great admirer of your work...I'd love to hear anything you have!!! I'd also like to see what Adam Baboolal and Daniel could put to this!!

Megaupload doesn't really work on my computer.
But about a year ago, I made an edit of I Want It All with an extra long intro (I threw blank drums onto the guitar intro) - is this it?? If it is, I'm absolutely chuffed it's out there.
If it's not it, lemme know what it is because I always love a new edit of this song.
It kind of sounds like it Zebonka...it's labeled as an extended mix...give me your email, and I'll upload it to rapidshare and send it to you. If it is your mix, it is pretty damn good!!

Indeed I'd love to hear whatever it is.
I made no attempt at labelling it as 'mine' at the time, because quite frankly it's just an extension of the song.
What I was trying for at the time was a longer version of the song that's more akin to it's live incarnations - big long intro, the 'slow' solo as well as the fast one... stuff like that.
It's far from perfect, there being uneven-ness in the volume as I cut from version to version, and maybe a *slight* case of bad timing with the added drums. Still, when I play the song on guitar, that's how I play it! :D
