Yes, San Diego was great. I saw the guys live in Vienna, Munich, Prague and Leipzig 2005. Those were very good shows, most of the audiences rocked big time but the band seemed a bit sloppy at times, yet seemed to be having a great time.
San Diego was miles better. The band were truly ON FIRE and the audience was very responsive. Not so big venue and everyone could have a great view of the stage and the band. Me and my friends were on the 5th row on Brian's side, right next to the catwalk and had the time of our lives. The setlist was also better than what they played in Europe. Overall, a much better and more energic show... and a friend of mine caught Brian's sixpence at the end of Champions! ;)
Too bad I didn't record it and, apparently, nobody did... :(

Yes it was a monster show, my mate and I stood in the stage / catwalk corner right in front of Brian. We were going to film it but got offered front row tickets at the last minute so took them. We thought "someone else will film it" but perhaps not. More than 50% of the USA shows are known to have been filmed from the audience though ....

I agree totally that the band performed much better in the USA! One can debate about the setlist or the light and such; but indeed there was a lot more 'chemistry' between the members and more accurate playing, especially by Brian who indeed was very sloppy at lots of shows in Europe.
Yeah, there are quite some US audience films. But where are they?? ;-)
Hey, if you ever come across a film of the Detroit show, you'd let me know, yes?! :-D
Unfortunately, I did not come across a film either. (And though I know where to find the majority of the filmed shows - wether I got them myself or not - nobody seems to know anything about this one...
Forever regretting that I got caught by security... :-(
And indeed I've heard that too, Pieter.
Though I did not see any filmer myself.
(I WOULD have made sure that I got the video if I HAD seen anyone filming! ;-)
Ah, well... we'll keep searching and drop the question here and there every once and a while ;-)
What made the USA tour the best were several different things. The best playing of the tour for Mr. May, the developed chemistry shared between the entire 6 man band, The set list including their first original, Take Love, as well as Dragon Attack and Bad Company. Also there was the use of Paul Rodgers more than before. Lastly, I think the ensemble-vocals version of Under Pressure was a treat. The only real negatives of the last leg was the deletion of 39 and I Want It All.
