I Personaly think he should cause Dave has been friends with Queen for a long time and have done gigs with them in the past |

Dave Grohl looks like a really nice guy, infact I read an article about him in Peoples magazine and he is such a sweetheart! But I dont think Queen should change their singer, it would look very desperate. |
turini 04.06.2006 20:20 |
he has absoultly no vocal capability compared to him or freddie |
bonnzzo 04.06.2006 20:29 |
Roy Thomas Baker is their friend and I hear that he can do a great version of Stone Cold Crazy.... |
Danny Buoy 04.06.2006 22:30 |
hmm, i'm sure he's a nice guy and he respects Queen highly and all, but did you hear him sing Now I'm Here live somewhere or other? tch. |
deleted user 05.06.2006 03:13 |
Hmmm. I am a Foo Fighters/Nirvana fan so I wouldn't be against Grohl replacing Paul, however, I think that Paul is still better suited to Queen. |
john bodega 05.06.2006 03:22 |
No. I won't dump on his singing because he's such a nice guy, but... no. Didn't like TYMD when he did it. |
Owlbee 05.06.2006 03:30 |
Absolutely NOT! He was SCREAMING the vocals for Tie Your Mother Down! He was Terrible!!! And Paul Rodgers should call it a day. He can NOT cut it with Queen songs. No matter how much Brian and Roger lie and say that he can. "Paul Rodgers was Freddie's favorite singer" as quoted consistently by Roger...I think NOT. I don't believe it for a second. |
boca 05.06.2006 06:40 |
Robbie Williams is also good friend of Queen... :) |
Munchsack 05.06.2006 07:37 |

How ironic! Last week me and Sir GH were talking over MSN and we started talking about the Paul Rogers Tour with Queen (mostly him razzing me for not having the money to go and see them when they came to Detroit). I remember I asked if Paul was any good, and we came to a conclusion: No one can replace Freddie, and anyone who tries to imitate him is just going to sound like shite. So it's almost better to have someone who doesn't try and imitate him...it keeps the songs and music alive without trying for the corney "I'm the New Freddie" bit. Although I have thought before about if there were any singers today who reminded me of the way Freddie sounded. The best one I could come up with was the guy who fronts Nickleback...but only because of the power in his voice. Freddie had that too, like he could sing to the entire arena without a mike. But Freddie had a much smoother, melodic voice than that guy. |

Um, in a word, NO! I am grateful for Paul Rodgers doing the tour, because otherwise I would never have been able to see Brian or Roger live, but I think that should be the end of it, unless they go on tour again. PLEASE, dont realease any studio work under the name Queen, its not Queen! HOW many times was Freddie quoted as saying "if any of the four left, for any reason, that would be the end of Queen" PLEASE listen to the man, he was so right. Listen to Freddie, please! Brian, Roger, Paul, and a bassist isnt Queen, its half of Queen and two guys subbing.. Its Queub. Sorry, I rant. I dont believe that Freddie's favourite singer for "some time" was Paul Rodgers, how many times have we heard that Aretha Franklin and Montserat Cabballe were some of his favourite? I just dont see Paul fitting in there... But Paul is better than Dave Grohl, at least he can sing some of the vocally diverse Queen songs... |

In a word, No. But if you want a slightly longer version, Really No. Paul Rodgers is doing a great job, and I have nothing against Grohl, but he's not got the voice or the credentials. |
deleted user 07.06.2006 00:58 |
Can I just say to everyone who is talking about Paul "replacing" Freddie, I've read quotes by Roger and Brian and they say that Paul is not replacing Freddie. He's singing with them to keep Queen going. They name themselves "Queen + Paul Rodgers", not just "Queen" for that reason. |

If I believed in cardinal sin, I'd have you crucified... or, something like that. ;) Seriously... I hate Nickelback and everything they stand for. Simply put, they, along with Theory Of A Deadman, Default, etc. are a key contributer to the destruction of any remaining quality in commercial rock music. Rock in its most creative days used to push the envelope (Queen, Yes, Floyd, etc.), and nowadays it's a shadow of that, at best. The innovators are somewhat still there today, but in our mainstream, there just isn't room for them, because quality and creativity just aren't what are looked for anymore. |
