Recently on another Queen fan club site I read a top ten list of the worst Queen songs. To my surprise number on the vote list was “All dead, all dead”. Now I am not saying it’s one of their best, but certainly not their worst. Below are what I consider to be the top 10 worst. I welcome your comments. 10. Machines or back to humans (How about back to Queen) 9. One year of love (Where is Brian?) 8. It’s a hard life (Play the game re-written) 7. Man on the prowl (Crazy little thing called love re-written) 6. More of that jazz (how about less of that crap) 5. Delilah (Embarrassing) 4. My baby does me (My baby would after that song) 3. Don’t loose your head (Lose that song!) 2. Cool cat (A dead cat would sound better) 1. Body language (In any language it would be garbage!) Louis |

What?? How dare you say Delilah is embarrasing! It's FU*KING AMAZING! Okay, maybe not amazing, but it's still really, really good. |

I agree with pretty much everything but It’s a hard life, Delilah, My baby does me, Cool cat, and Body language.. And what's with those cheesy jokes? :P |

Oh well! I hate Nevermore and Dear Friends and a couple of other songs because, you know...where is Brian? Oh and Bohemian Rhapsody is a bad song because it's March of the Black Queen re-written. And Seaside Rendezvous is bad because it's Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon re-written. And Drowse is bad and I'm in love with my car and Fight From The Inside because they are all Tenement Funster re-written. And the Hitman and Hammer To Fall are bad because they are Now I'm Here and Tie Your Mother Down re-written. And don't forget Keep PassingThe Open Windows because it's Don't Stop Me Now re-written. Damn! What a bad and unoriginal self-copying band, right? |

In fact I was ironically replying because of all that bullshit which came up. No, I don't like everything by Queen, I can easily live without the Flash Gordon soundtrack. But what's the point when 14-17 year olds come up with worst song polls or questions about Freddie's accent or if he was circumcised or which socks Roger prefers? Get a life... |

Jeese you know what you suck, all of Queens songs rock and you probably couldnt right a song half as good as that so please shut up, i understand that people have different taste but puhlease dont bloody go on about the songs you dont like and make really bad jokes because quite frankly noone really gives a dam. |
AmeriQueen 31.05.2006 02:02 |
From my perspective, there are no bad Queen songs, and only 'No Turning Back' by John Deacon and the Immortals stands as a recorded work of solo Queen that I would deem pure shit. My least favorite Queen songs, which at the bottom of the barrel is still, to me, no lower than mediocre, would go as such: 1. Jesus 2. Friends Will Be Friends 3. Sleeping On The Sidewalk 4. Pain Is So Close To Pleasure 5. Hitman(I will stop here, since I am getting into a song that has a guitar moment which I describe as phenomenal.) |

Come on, Lazing on a sunday afternoon and Seaside Rendezvous? And Bohemian Rhapsody a copy of The march of the black queen? Right, because there's so much opera in March of the black queen. No way, they are two compeletely different songs. |

Rock It (Prime Jive) Flash Calling All Girls Cool Cat Body Language Keep Passing The Open Windows One Year Of Love Pain Is So Close To Pleasure My Baby Does Me seems to me that when Roger Taylor tried to get interesting or when Freddie and John teamed up, bad things happened. |

I usually skip Sweet Lady, Don't try suicide, More of that Jazz, Man on the prowl, Pain is so close to pleasure, Don't lose your head and Scandal (I find it boring) and sometimes Cool Cat. Actually, I find Body Language quite enjoyable while I'm in my car and I play it out loud (cool bass), as I like Rock it. Nice intro by Freddie and cool rocking part by Roger. Wiley |

I love One Year of Love, but it would be just crap with a guitar solo... I usually skip The Prophet's Song but I still like it. I don't really like: Mustapha (but I guess it's just a joke) Life Is Real Man on the prowl I think that's it... |

1) Body Language (too disco, too much synths) 2) One Year of Love (Michael Bolton-like... I know, I know ... I should not have written this kind of comparison) 3) Man on the prowl (no substance) 4) Delilah (clever song, but embarassing, meow, meow, err...) 5) Don't loose your head (too much 80's) |

Hmmm... everyone assumes It's a Hard Life is closer to Play the Game just because the chorus is similar. I actually look at it as a much-simplified, toned down kind of Bohemian Rhapsody, in that there's a big vocal intro, the verse and chorus sounds similar, and instead of the opera section they've got that whole Brian thing. Yah maybe I'm wrong actually. Fuck. I don't like Staying Power, but the live version makes up for it. I honestly can't be arsed scouring 180 songs for ones I don't like when there's about a 100 (including Delilah, haha) that I do like. Though I must say - One Year of Love would've been less irritating to me if they 86'd the ridiculous karaoke machine instrumentation and that god-awful sax solo. |

Nobody is perfect. It is cliche, but it is always right. Even Beatles have bad songs and similar songs (I Wanna Hold Your Hand, She Loves You, etc... are variations of the same theme, I think). It is good to analyze that even our beloved band can do bad songs. At least the good/bad ratio is high... |
evv95 31.05.2006 15:21 |
I did not mean that those Beatle songs are bad... no... but I usually skip them when listening to their "1" compilation. |

Thank you all for your comments & feedback. I love Queen. I believe they are one of the top 5 best and most influential bands of all time. I discovered Queen about 1977 and quickly become an ardent fan. I was fortunate to see them live four times (1977, 1978, 1980 & 1982) probably the best live shows I have ever witnessed. Their work from Queen I to The Game is miraculous and at times breath taking. The carved out a unique sound that is unmistakable. Unfortunately for most fans in the USA like my self, instead of inventing new concepts or continuing to be leaders of their time they simply became followers, thus they lost their original sound and it was hard to tell them apart from most of the other synth bands of the day. I totally understand wanting to incorporate other types of music into Queen, but instead of taking that and making it their own, they simply copied what others have done. For the most part from “Hot space” to “Made in Heaven” there are a few quick flashes of brilliance. Most of the time it seems like they were trying to write a hit song. Trying just to fit in on what was going on around them. “Hot Space” is my least liked offering from them, but when they preformed those song live with their Queen sound, most of those tunes rocked! In my opinion the same could be said for the rest of their later output as well. Louis |
