Freddie wasn't 60. He never will be 60, nor 70, nor 80, nor 100! I don't understand why Queen Whoever is doing this. Roger, during the Queen+ U.S tours in an interview published in a newspaper, said something like: Freddie is dead. He's not coming back. Get over it. If you can't stand listening to someone else sing Freddie's part, then just stay home and listen to the records. Move on - we have - we're survivors.
A birthday party without the birthday boy is ridiculous. This is suposed to coincide with new releases? It will just be old releases reshuffled. I would rather see a zillion photos of Queen as background to songs rather than those lame unknown actors attempting to depict some stupid story.
Gimme, gimme, gimme something I haven't seen or heard before which would be anything not officially released in the past. Is that too much to ask?
Carboengine, utmost respects, but you're being unfair.
Me granny died 10 years ago, and we are most certainly going to have at least a tiny party to remember her.
Granted, it's a different story with Freddie. Money can be made from it. But don't deny people their right to remember the guy on what would've been a significant occasion.

Yep, exactly to pay respects and to remember the person just for the whole day :)
yeah i got to the cemetary for my brothers birthday. and he's dead infact he has been gone for 20 years hard to believe. his birthday isnt hard to forget either cause it is july 4th and that is a US holiday. so that was hard in the beginning for my family considering he was only 13 when you died. i will celebrate freddie birthday with video and listening to queen cd's. i miss both of them a great deal. my brother was one of the reasons i loved queen.
freddie is not around anymore, but i think it's good to have a freddie 60th birthday party, it is a good way to keep his memory alive
and you're right, freddie is not 60 years old, for me, freddie is still 45, looking younger and healthy
I've had get-togethers on my dead father's birthday to celebrate his life and my mother's as well. It is just that I don't add on their dead years to their alive years to get some meaningless number that they never were. We all want to remember our loved ones, of course. I adore Freddie Mercury and, yes, I will celebrate his birthday in my own way. I only learned of Queen in 2004, and Freddie had been dead for many years by then. Even so, I have always thought of him in present tense. He has given me countless hours of listening and viewing pleasure. Well, it's more than pleasure - exhilaration, fun, joy. Good grief, I have 50 8x10 photos of Freddie on my walls. I never tire of Queen. QUEEN forever!
