Has anybody also seen this great show yesterday on german television Kabel 1? Lots of nice footage and even Jim Hutton was there talking about Freddie.
There also was a "virtual" Freddie performing "These are the days of our lives"...very emotional but also a bit scary because it looked so real!
And the documentation about Freddie's life after the show made by Rudi Dollezal was also great!!!
So I had an awesome evening :) :)
They rebroadcasted an old video message by Brian and Roger and claimed it came "right from the USA".
Rudi Dolezal said that there will be an "outdoor tour" next year.
The new version of the Untold Story had more footage from the Freddie interview in Garden Lodge in 1987 which was sadly voiced over in German like the whole programme, some footage from the unveiling of the statue in Monteux which wa never shown before as far as I know and some footage from the recent Budapest bonus from "Super Live in Japan". The Kabel 1 press text say that this was preceeding the upcoming double DVD later this year.

Where was the video message from? When was it recorded?
The video message was from Thomas Gottschalk "50 Jahre Rockmusik" or some similar title. I can't check the date at the moment but I think it was in 2004.
Even the message was old ? I thought at least that would be something nice and new...
The show was kinda... embarassing at times. Doro Pesch and Klaus Meine are so of their time, stuck in the 80's and living klischees.
Chris Norman singing a Queen-Song ? He is doing small time around all these reality and comeback shows, really cheap.
And why did they let the Scorpions play their new single on a "Queen show" ?
Tons of mistakes regarding dates and events, and the Freddie-Projection... well, kinda kitsch, but nonetheless technically good. The guy that walked on and off stage was an actor, the crowd in the studio could only see him, or "Freddie" on the big screen above the stage.
Highpoints were Phoebe and Jim, even though they did not say that much. And Rudi was at least a bit urbane and eloquent as opposed to Klaus Meine.
Nice idea as a tribute to Queen. Nice to have such a TV-show in the first place. But the outcome wasn't too good in my opinion, and definitely nothing new for Queen-Fans, except from a few snippets of Freddie in Munich and stuff like that.
To Cnash: I think Freddie would have hated it! They showed him as a sick and thin guy which he was when acting on this Days of our Lives video. I think Freddie would have loved it if they had showed for example -85 Freddie from the Live Aid stage.
Could anyone tell us how did they do it? I mean technically? Ok, they used an actor but how the hell the actor had a perfect Freddie face?
Does anyone know what Jim Hutton, Phoebe and Rudi Dolezal thought about this? Is there any news about this?
they interviewed rudi,a munich designer, the singer of the scorpions and the daughter of barbara but where was mack? i found it strange for a german show that they didn t interviewed him especialy when they talked of the munich recordings
Record companies pay money if you put Scorpions or Chris Norman on the show.
The show was not good, but my fears were huge so I was glad it wasn't that bad. But so many opportunities! I don't understand it.
YV and Regor already told about the show and my thoughts are in my blog as well.
It was a super commercial show, nothing indepth, only for the very accurate watchers perhaps a word that they had not heard before, but all in all it was just as television nowadays is made. It hit the thing, but never any indepth words and when there almost came some more (for example when Jim Hutton tried to talk) he was over-talked by Poeby.
it was a kind of Dolezal show, in my eyes.
But nevertheless, it WAS queen related, so I watched it and that's it. The laser-freddie was nice technique but in fact a horrible thing, tasteless. Indeed, strange that the scorpions did their new song in a queen show
The documentary was okay, a kind of untold untold story, what was skipped out of that, we now know that it was to get us paying for it again. Let's hope it will be soon, anyway. Dolezal is a master in cutting and editing thngs, that normal people usually show in one time, but maybe that is his worth for QProd, he knows how to make money.
At least, and that is in an advanage of dolezal, he realy enjoyed the queen things and you could see that he is a true involved Queen fan as well, no fake in that
