I went to see them last Saturday at the Jones Beach Amphitheater in Long Island, NY.
This past Thursday the concert in Chicago had to be cancelled due to the fact that Dave Gahan was suffering from laryngitis, and Friday's show in Kansas was cut short by only 14 songs, out of which 11 were done with Gahan on vocals and Martin Gore singing the last 3.
There was a lot of speculation about if the show was going to be cancelled, or even worse if I'd end up done by half. Saturday was particularly cold for May, and since the concert was done in open air there was a lot of risks for Dave Gahan.
However, the concert ended up being nothing short of phenomenal, with Depeche Mode playing some of their best hits, other great non-hits, and a few songs from their recent album which is one their best in many years.
my wife is a bigger fan, I do like the hits. like people are people and enjoy the silence
how good are they live, I never figure them to really be such a live band.

They're better live than I expected.
Of course when we speak of good live bands we'll talk about Queen, AC/DC, or Led Zeppelin. There are low expectations towards new wave and synthpop bands.
Nonetheless, these guys put a great live show. After U2, they are the best new wave band of all time.
I want to see them in concert....not a big fan though. Just like them.
