I've just been watching the "Zoom" concert video (Thanks, Janet!), and, as always, was blown away by how awesome they were. Anyway, I just felt like posting a thread about them. Are there any other fans here?
I've heard a few of their songs, and from what I know about them, they're awesome! When I first heard them, I was surprised, cause they sounded so original and refreshing.

True story
I was in a studio near Oxford a few years ago and we started playing Wild West Hero.
After we finished (much laughter at the high vocals at the end) we sat back to work out how to improve it and from upstairs in the control room came a chap I recognised, turned out to be the keyboard player (well one of them) I can't remember his name but he played on Out of the Blue i think. he said he never thought he'd heard Wild West Hero being played by another band and sat and chatted with us for a while.
Nice guy never did work out how long he was in the band for, but what a coincidence.
BTW we then played Tie Your Mother Down, just in case Brian May was upstairs as well!!

That would be Richard Tandy.
Saw 'em twice but my brother is the big ELO fan.
That's right, Nice guy, never did find out what he was working on at the time. I don't think all his time with Jeff Lynn was stunningly happy or at least so it seemed, but he was very complimentary about us, an joked that we owed him twenty five quid for playing the song.
I don't know any of the Zoom stuff, but if you haven't already you should go and listen to their 70's and 80's stuff right away. Heck - Xanadu was an *awful* movie but the ELO music for that film was great stuff. Hunt, hunt, hunt it all down.
