I saw the topic about Queen's best album opener...now besides Queen...what album has the best opener?
I say "Funeral For A Friend/ Love Lies Bleeding" on the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John...
What do you think?
Cheers
52nd Street has a great album opener! "Yes, you had to be a big shot, didn't ya, you had to open up your mouth.. You had to be a big shot, didn't ya, all your friends were so knocked out..." XD
Hell yeah! Also, "The River Of Dreams" has a great opening song.
By the way, ChinesedogTorture, your signature is from my favorite song on "52nd Street". Good choice!

Thanks! I love that song, specially that part that begins, "When the sun goes down
And the day is over..." It's just so full of emotion. :)

I second that... other ones might be...
'Welcome To The Jungle'
'Smells Like Teen Spirit'
'Shine On Your Crazy Diamond'
'Apocalypse Please'
'Battery'
Tie Your Mother Down, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Welcome To The Jungle, Black Dog, Hello, Cherub Rock, Where The Streets Have No Name...and I'm loving Pope John Paul from the Lovely Feathers is one of the best openers I've heard lately.
This won't count because it's actually the *last* song on the album... but "Under a Raging Moon" by Roger Daltrey kicks arse. Hahah. Does that make it 'best album closer'??
Shine on you .... that's class
Black Sabbath's "Holes in the sky" from Sabotage
21th century schozoid man by King Crimson's In the court of the crimson king
My fave album openers are:
Dreamline - Rush (from 1991's Roll The Bones)
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band/With A Little Help From My Friends - Beatles (from 1967's Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band)
Like A Surgeon - "Weird Al" Yankovic (From 1985's Dare To Be Stupid)
Procession/Father To Son - Queen (from 1974's Queen II; you all probably know that lol)
So Far Away - Dire Straits (from 1985's Brothers In Arms)
It's No Game (Part 1) - David Bowie (from 1980's Scary Monsters)
a small note...I bought Bowie's Scary Monsters a week ago, it is my favorite album of all!
