I read the blurb at Brian's site about some new Freddie hits compilation coming later this year, no doubt due to Freddie's 60th being in '06.
Will it just be the same stuff we've heard before? Will there be a bonus track or two added on (like most hits albums seem to have these days)?
Best guess, in no particular order, would be:
I Was Born To Love You
The Great Pretender
Made In Heaven (be nice if it was the 7" Remix)
Barcelona (Single Version)
The Golden Boy
How Can I Go On
Love Kills
Foolin' Around (be nice if it was the "Teachers Version")
Living On My Own (Radio Mix)(it WAS No. 1, after all)
Heaven For Everyone (with The Cross)
Hold On (with Jo Dare)
Love Is The Hero (12" Version) (with Billy Squier)
Time (Single Version)
In My Defense
That's if they stick exclusively with Freddie's solo work. If they use any Queen, expect at least "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Killer Queen" and/or "We Are The Champions" (maybe even "Crazy Little Thing Called Love")
Personally I don't think it should contain Queen tracks, but would like to see a few of the collaboration tracks included.
'The Freddie Mercury Album' was of course a 'best of compilation', although I think the track listing was rather suspect and they should have concentrated on the more serious works rather than going for a disco/pop audience. Hopefully this time they will also avoid 'Exercises In Free Love'.
My preferred track listing would be, ordered simply by album:
1. Made In Heaven
2. I Was Born To Love You
3. Your Kind Of Lover
4. Mr Bad Guy
5. There Must Be More To Life Than This
6. Living On My Own (1993 remix)
7. Love Me Like There's No Tomorrow (Extended)
8. Barcelona
9. The Golden Boy
10. The Fallen Preist
11. Guide Me Home / How Can I Go On
12. The Great Pretender
13. Time
14. In My Defence
15. Love Kills
16. Hold On (with Jo Dare)
17. Love Is The Hero (with Billy Squier)
18. Heaven For Everyone (with The Cross)
I'd also like to see a mix between versions - not just the standard album/single versions but some extended mixes or new mixes (if done correctly).
My guess is that it will be mostly Queen material, with a few solo songs thrown in, mostly hits, and one or two "obscure" songs (ie. non-hit singles).
Possible tracklisting:
Seven Seas of Rhye
Killer Queen
Bohemian Rhapsody
Somebody To Love
We Are The Champions
Bicycle Race
Don't Stop Me Now
Love Of My Life
Crazy Little Thing Called Love
Play The Game
The Miracle
Innuendo
A Winter's Tale
I Was Born To Love You
Barcelona
Living On My Own
The Great Pretender
Would be great if they threw in stuff like Black Queen or Liar, but knowing QP, they'll stick to the big hits.
To Zaiga:
Your track choice can be titled only "Queen+ Greatest Hits IV". We don't need another GHIII-style compilation. This is not Freddie Mercury solo career. Also there's no proper official solo FM career compilation.
I think it must be something like this:
1. I Can Hear Music
2. Love Kills
3. Foolin' Around (1984 Teachers version) - wide debut on CD!
4. I Was Born To Love You
5. Made In Heaven (1985 single remix) - hope they will finally release it on CD!
6. Living On My Own (1985 original)
7. Love Me Like There's No Tomorrow
8. Time (1986 original or 1992 remix)
9. In My Defence (1992 remix or 2000 remix)
10. Hold On (with Jo Dare)
11. The Great Pretender
12. Barcelona (single version)
13. Guide Me Home
14. How Can I Go On
15. Living On My Own (1993 Radio Mix)
It'll be great if they will add another rarities like 1996 JD remix of There Must Be More To Life Than This
Also special versions/remixes instead of ordinary album tracks will be a great addition.

Who said it will focus on FM's solo carreer? I really hope they put all the rare stuff on it, but we all know QP will milk every cash cow dry to the last drop. So I'm afraid it will be indeed a "Greatest Hits IV", with perhaps only a few "obscure" songs on it.
Why else would the word "Queen" not be in the title? Also it's coming out on his birthday.
It may not be absolutely explicit, but it's completely obvious that this will be a solo collection.

It fucking well better. Im friggen sick of all these Queen compilations, no more! Please! I dont care which tracks from his solo carear they have on there, so long as Your Kind Of Lover is on there, I love that song.
