Last Saturday me and my girlfriend went to get some ice cream, and we found a tabby cat limping on the street. Once we saw the cat we approached it slowly to not scare it off. The cat started hissing at us, and we were thinking it would try to scratch us if we got to close. It was a female, and we sat on the floor and we started calling her while she wondered around. At one point she was confident enough to let us pet her, but since she was limping we tried to keep her laying on the ground because it was so difficult for her to walk. At one point we decided we should take her home, and we thought the cat might panic when brought inside the car, but while she seemed a bit nervous she behaved well. The only issue then was that my parents wouldn't let me keep her inside the house because my dad is allergic to cats. We kept her inside the garage, and my mom brought her some milk and an old piece of towel so it could stay warm. However, it was so cold in the garage that we decided to buy her a bed, some food, and kitty litter at the supermarket. Meanwhile, we tried to call veterinary hospitals or shelters to see if they could take her. Her paw looked in really bad shape, and it seemed broken. Everything was closed, so we decided to let her sleep for the night and see what we could do first thing in the morning. Early on we called a shelter that apparently was open on Sundays, and they allowed us to take her there. We told them to take the bed, the food, and the litter since we didn't needed it anymore. It was hard to leave her there as we were sort of getting attached to the cat. At least we hope she's being taken care of, and a vet has been able to check what's wrong with her paw. Here are some videos we took from her while she stayed at the garage: link link link |

My dad is not very fond of animals. It's not as much to say that he hates them, he just doesn't want them in the house. He can only tolerate birds and fish. I might possibly move out later this year, but I doubt I could afford a place that will let me have a dog or a cat. Finding a place in NY is so friggin' expensive compared to the rest of the country. |

What the hell was that banging noise on the last clip? ;-) Cute kitty.. If I'd found a hurt cat, I'd probably have to take it in. We are suckers..:-) |

Hey Mr Jingles you did a good thing there. She looked like she was pretty comfortable and happy in that last shot where she was kneading the side of the bed with her paw. They tend to do that when they're relaxed, and she looked very content. Another person might have just walked past and not thought anything more about an animal that who needed help. You're a good soul, and Mr Jingles is/was one smart mouse ;) |

Awlink checked out all three clips earlier, and that cat is sooo cute! **purr-reow** I completely agree with the last post, Mr. Jingles is a very good soul for caring for the injured cat. |

I hope you find a safe home for the cat...what about your lady, does she stay in an apartment where she could possible keep the cat...well, hopefully the injury will get nursed, and the cat will on her paws in no time! You such a good guy Mr. Jingles!! |

not to be cynical but i hope it was a no kill shelter that way the injury has time to heal and perhaps a new home found for the cat you did good! |

It even crossed our minds if they're the kind of people who would euthanize any animal, but the lady at the shelter was very nice and she told us that animals are not put to sleep unless they have a terminal disease or they're extremely aggressive. To answer Jellybean's question, my girlfriend already has two Golden Retrievers at home, and chances are that they might feel like a cat is invading their place and respond aggressively. Plus, her parents are not too fond of cats. |
