Metallica's old chain saw, train wreck, rape a monkey, sacrifice a goat, every song sounds the same and weak ass Kirk Hammett's lame Eddie Van Halen wannabe tapping leads....make me say HOW THE FUCK DID METALLICA EVER GET SIGNED?? By 1991's Black album....Metallica said.. Queen have "sold out" way more than the RHCP. I don't get that comment at all, especially if it's regarding their sound. I'd venture to say the Foo Fighters are falling victim to becoming "commercially sounding." I love the Foo's, but "Best of You" is mediocre radio rock, IMO. |

Im suspicious whenever people say this is the best album since.... like a week or two after it comes out. Im not a big Chili's fan - theyre ok, but my point is, almost all albums seem great on the first few listens. Very few retain legendary status for very long though - time will tell. If youre still listening to it lots in six to twelve months, and still saying its a return to form a la BSSM, then maybe we'll see. Im certain people thought Hot Space was awesome for a week or so...or maybe less, lol. Although I do have a soft spot for HS. hehe. |

<b><font color = "crimson">Thomas Quinn wrote: RHCP have degraded from a good rock group (up to and including 'Californication') to a bunch of commercially-minded sell-outs....what are you on, man? Red Hot Chili Peppers have yet to sell out. They haven't done anything to be classified as sellouts to my knowledge. They've changed their musical style over the years, but that's it. With this album, though, they go back to that funk sound that made them big in the first place. I'm serious. They really brought back the funk on this album. Now, I just bought this album a couple of days back, and I just finished listening to the 1st disc (Jupiter). From what I've heard so far, this has to be their most excellent and triumphant effort since Blood Sugar Sex Magik, which has been heralded as the best album of their career. Until now, at least. This double album has the early style of RHCP (from albums like BSSM, Mother's Milk, The Uplift Mofo Party Plan, etc.) integrating with their newest styles (Californication, By The Way) to make one hell of a double album, in my opinion. My favorite ever since Californication (which I know wasn't that great, but I liked it) So come on, this is a great album, trust me. It's not expensive, either. I bought it for $12 at Best Buy! That's a freakin' steal. And for those of you that don't like this album, RHCP bassist Flea says it best: "If you don't like this record, you don't like the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Period." |
