So whoever has Freddie's, Brian's and Roger's solo albums which of these three do you prefer in order? My order is: Brian Freddie Roger My reasons for this order is because, Brian is more my kind of music, you know, the most rocky solo out of the three I would say. It just does it all for me. I would choose 'Another World' between his two solos, though I love songs like "Love Token" "Ressurection" "I'm Scared" "Driven By You" "Too Much Love Will Kill You" "Last Horizon" from 'Back To The Light' album. Freddie's would be 2nd because I love his party/disco side to him also his operatic side with his album called "Barcelona" which I love. Roger's would be 3rd because his music doesn't really appeal to me as much as the others. I find myself getting bored or skipping some songs when listening to his solos. But still I would say "Fun In Space" and "Eletric Fire" are my favourites from his colllection. |

Roger. He recorded albums (great albums), not compilations of already released tracks. |

Roger Taylor's fun In space is the best thing any of them has ever done, in my opinion of course. |

Roger and freddie i like the same. And last but not least would be Brians solo work.. Roger in my opnion has done better albums that brian x |

Freddie should have hired better musicians or just played all the instruments himself. Brian's albums would've been better with a different vocalist on some songs. Roger should have done a US tour, so we could've found his albums in record stores and on radio. John should've formed an R&B band. Which is why I definitely prefer them as Queen. (I guess PAUL would have the best solo albums, sorry BPP!) |

Mr. Bad Guy is a very underrated album. But it's Freddie being Freddie...so it has my vote as the best solo album ever.... |

"John should've formed an R&B band." That's actually not a bad sounding idea. |

Freddie no.1 - Barcelona, Living on my own, IWBTLY, Made in heaven etc. are fantastic songs, that can't be beaten Brian - "Too much love will kill you" and "Driven by you" are classics Roger - fantastic albums, my favourite is Happiness can't decide between Brian and Roger, maybe Brian in little advantage, but all three are fantastic |

In first place I woud place Brian May...Another world is even better than "Back to the light" you can see he was tranquiler and may be in better music conditions (after all the pain he might felt during the earliest 90´s) In second place I would chose Freddie Mercury...Mr Bad Guy...in fact just a couple of songs I really like..and those are the ones that seems to be made for Queen... In third place...Roger Taylor...I think Happiness? is the best one... They are made to be togheter men!! ...look what they are doing now!!! |

I think Roger definitely had the best crop of solo material. Each album is a little different, and while some of his tracks tend to sound the same, there is a freshness to his music. His early tunes are very... very 'alive'. They get me tapping my feet and bobbing my head. I love, love, LOVE 'I Wanna Testify' and 'Strange Frontier' for this reason. They make me feel good. 'Happiness?' leaves me feeling sort of sad... I'm not very familiar with that album but it's always given me this depressing feeling. From what I've heard, I think that one was... hmm... not the 'worst' of his work, but not as enjoyable as the others. It appeared to me that Roger used said album as a really great way to blow off some steam. If anything, I think it's really great that he dedicated it to Freddie's memory. That was classy. 8) As for Brian and Freddie, I'm going to have to put FM as number two, and BM as number three, simply because I'm not familiar with Brian's solo work. :) |

Another World and The Great Pretender, hell yeah! :-D |
luthorn 09.05.2006 00:20 |
The Great Pretender. Time and In My Defense would have been great Queen songs. It would be nice for Brian, Roger and John to rework Freddie's solo works by adding Queen touch and feel to it. |

2 orders: Best work discounting quantity: 1. Freddie 2. Roger 3. Brian Best work of total output(quantity being a factor) 1. Roger 2. Freddie 3. Brian How I rank the albums themselves? 1. Mr. Bad Guy 2. Strange Frontier 3. Fun In Space 4. The Great Pretender 5. Electric Fire 6. Barcelona 7. Another World 8. Back To The Light 9. Starfleet 10. Happiness 11. Shove It I have not heard my downloaded copies of 'Mad Bad...' and 'Blue Rock' enough to factor them. If Smile's release is eligible, I would place it 3rd, after Strange Frontier. One final note... It took me awhile to warm up to Roger's later two albums(Happiness and Electric Fire), but the each time I hear them, I like them more than before. Favorite 10 solo tracks off the top of my head would be: 1. Man Made Paradise(easy call) 2. It's An Illusion 3. Your My Kind of Lover 4. In My Defence 5. Wilderness Child 6. Living On My Own 7. Love Making Love 8. Low Me Like There's No Tomorrow 9. Made In Heaven 10. Cry For You or My Country 1 + II |

I have the Freddie solo collection, Brian May Live At The Brixton Academy, BTTL and Another World, and Roger's Strange Frontier and Fun In Space. Still a few to go (Happiness, Man In The Shadows, etc) but my fave is easily Mr Bad Guy. IMO, this album is very underrated. It is very different from Queen's stuff, more so than Brian and Roger's solo stuff, but that's OK. Perhaps this is why not so many Queen fans like it that much. |
bananawig 09.05.2006 10:48 |
All are great. But choice-wise for me it's Brian's albums all the way! Plus noticed especially at the moment makes some great ipod running/jogging tunes; legging it full pelt down the street and looking kind of strange would never be the same unless you were listening to 'Ressurrection' full blast!!! |
DavidRFuller 09.05.2006 11:06 |
Roger Taylor's fun in space by far. |
evv95 09.05.2006 11:17 |
I haven't listened any of Taylor's solo albuns. I've listened to Another World from Brian May and Mercury 's albuns. Mercury solo is outdated, too much synths, too much dance oriented. But some songs I can't listen twice. I agree, Living on My Own, In My Defence, Time is a great song. Barcelona is a very important album, one of the few crossovers between a Rock singer and an Opera Singer. Another World is a very good album but May's vocal do not sound so good. For me, his version of Have a Cigar with Foo Fighters is amazing. Anyway, Roger Taylor is a very underrated voice. I don't know about his solo material, but I did not like that song "Nazi" or something. |
