I've heard some of '70s famous rock bands have released their '70s live archives. So, I've always wondered why Queen(QOL) haven't released their '70s live materials properly, yet. Well, as for DVD of ANATO 30th anniversary for example, I think it's kind of disappointing to see some of those famous live stuff are used in fragments. Indeed, Bri and Rog are busy with doing live stages, but I'd like them to think about that.
What do you think?
Btw, perhaps there have been discussions about that before...but sorry I don't remember what posts they were...
Well, as far as I know, Queen Productions did say once that no concert between 1975 and 1979 will ever be released, due to technical problems with the recordings :( Though I'd be very happy to get an official release of Hammersmith Odeon'75 (the TV show is quite good quality), Hyde Park'76 (as worse as it can be, it's surely better than the bootlegs around), Earl's Court'77 or Houston'77 :)

Yes, I also think that one of the reasons why they haven't released '70s' might be technical problems. But if so, I think perfect ones wouldn't be necessary. There will be an appropriate idea to do that anyway...
I live in hope that we will see something someday.
I think the Freddie Mercury Solo Box set might have opened their eyes a litle to the potential of releasing non-perfect stuff. I know in that case it was audio not video.
If it is the right concert, packaged well, with a nice selection of extras people will forgive a drop in picture/sound quality and still buy it.
We(Queen Fans) buy all the other stuff without extras and multiple variations of the same release. You would have thought by now that they would have realised we will buy anything.
I would not even mind a boxset of partial concerts. For example : a 3 disc set of concerts recorded from the Live Killers Tour, or a 2 disc set of concerts recorded at Hammersmith or a 2 disc set of Hyde Park 1976/2006 etc. If they are not complete it would not matter as long as it is done well and we get what they can rescue. Not like Rare Live though where individual songs are taken from multiple concerts.
The only other reason I can see they would resist is if they did not like the performances, but having seen some of the bootlegs from the 70s concerts I don't think they have to worry on that front.
I haven't heard too much of their '70s live material (except Live Killers). But who knows, once I get this BitTorrent thing sorted out, I might download a few '70s concerts.
A zeppelinesque dvd would be a great idea, i don't know what's the deal about technical problems, bands like King Crimson realases its own archive with recordin from excellent to almost bad quality, and fans buy it, so there's a lot of fans outhere that want a quality live recordin of 70's Queen. At least we've some soundboards, but just a few, and all are cut.
