In my opinion, Queen will never die. Songs like Bohemian Rhapsody, It's A Kind of Magic, We Will Rock You, We Are The Champions and Another One Bites The Dust will be heard by generation after generation. Having said that, I also believe that Queen as we know it (ie Freddie, Brian, Roger and John) is no more and nothing can change that, although Q+PR is a great way to keep the flame alive. |
Bambi 02.05.2006 12:18 |
qUEEN WILL NEVER DIE,FREDDIE DIED AND JOHN RETIRED, THERE WERE FOUR PEOPLE THAT MADE QUEEN, HALF ARE GONE, BUT THE SONGS ARE STILL THERE, THE MUSIC. NO ITS NOT THE SAME, BUT THATS LIFE NOTHING EVER STAYS THE SAME, LET A NEW GENERATION GET TO KNOW THE MUSIC OF QUEEN. I COUNT MYSELF LUCKY TO HAVE BECOME A QUEEN FAN IN 1975, THE BEGINNING. ANYWAY THE WIND BLOWS. |

I have a two fold answer. QUEEN THE BAND Queen the band as we all now them from the 70's and 80's died when Freddie passed. What they did with Paul was great but it wasn't Queen. QUEEN AS AN ENTITY Queen as a moneymaking, news making, album selling entity is as alive as ever and like Elvis and countless others, they will proberly stay that way for the forseeable future. A side note to the queen as a band comment. I have had the pleasure to see a couple of bands at really small venues that for lack of a better term were passed there prime. Not to say Queen are but I have seen a reformed Quite Riot for $10, I was jacked up, but when I saw the band there was only 1 member. Same for Great White. There was only Jack Blades the lead singer. So my point is I SAW Quiet Riot, I SAW Great White and most importantly I SAW QUEEN. But I saw a shell of those bands, a piece of those bands. It just wasn't the real deal. |

Of course they're not dead. If any idiot says they are then why the hell are you on this forum. If they had so called 'died' then they wouldn't still be touring 30 odd so years after. The WWRY show is into it's 5th year, they're selling millions of albums and people keep rediscovering them. What a stupid question. |

As far as a living entity yes, but the music that has been made will never die ,just look at how many teens are getting into Queen good music never dies. Even the rappers are sampling Queen, one way or another they will always be around.(not a simple yes/ no question) |

I think I'm a little tired of those 'purists' who think that Queen stopped existing in 1995. The Queen+PPR thing is a great tribute to a radious career. If you prefer to keep listening the cr*p that's usually on air these days, or going to concerts of Hillary Duff or other stuff like that, then keep saying that Queen are dead, and perhaps also Brian and Roger will in the end leave the scene, convinced that their fans have something better to listen to.. |

when Bonzo died, Plant and Page wouldn't dare going under Led Zeppelin, but he was a drummer.. Freddie was Queen's lead singer! Obviously Queen is dead, but their recorded music is not Brian and Roger are by themselves playing Queens music, a band that once existed, but not anymore (atleast not live anymore) |
faeriequeene 02.05.2006 17:04 |
as a Queen fan i couldnt care less, what they were or are called |
bonnzzo 02.05.2006 17:48 |
You got it all wrong. Queen as what they were are gone, Zeppelin as what they were are gone. But I will go see Bri, Rog and Paul as long as they continue to tour. I will go see Page and Plant as long as they will tour again (if ever-but I won't got there), but rest assured, I know going in that I am not watching Queen or Zeppelin. Your comment about listing to Hilliry Duff and stuff is out of line if you were talking about us that think Queen is dead. That is all i listen to. I live and breath Queen, Zep, Sabbath etc... As far as Sabbath goes when they all get together (Tony, Bill, Geezer and Ozzy) you are watching Sabbath. When you see AC/DC, Brian Johnson has been in in that group since '78, so in a since you are watching AC/DC. Once again Queen and Paul Rogers is not Queen. The Cross is not Queen, The Brian May band is not Queen. Queen as we know it as a band is no more. But if you read my earlier post then you also know my feeling that as a Commercial Success, A money making machine, Videos, DVDS, Tshirts, Music Sales, American Idol (we won't go there), you name it...Queen as a living working thriving Machine are alive and well and for $75 or so you can go see Roger Taylor and Brian May with Paul Rodgers play Queen songs that they have every right to do under the Queen moniker. And I will be there every step of the way spending my hard earned money feeding that machine. But all the money in the world can't bring Freddie back or for that matter if he is as true to himself as he seems, John either. |
bonnzzo 02.05.2006 17:54 |
And one more thing. If you have ever seen Paul McCartney live did you witness the Beatles or Paul McCartney. Its not that far fetched of a question |

hey i just joined here, i've been listening to queen for a while, but in a way i've only just started to REALLY listen to them. i hope i don't make myself sound too stupid i would say that queen isn't dead, but discontinued. a band can't really die, unless they start like trying to do rap or something, then they deserve to be killed. but anyway, queen can never come out with a new album again, but i went to the queen and rodgers concert when they came to minnesota, and brian may completely changed my entire aspect on not only just queen music, but all music. and that was just may, not to mention taylor was kick ass too. so if they can still do that, they are far from dead. |

Yes, no and no. Yes, they are dead in the sense that no future creative enterprise involving Queen in it's truest sense(Freddie included) can come about. Made In Heaven was as close as could possibly happen in terms of a Queen resurection. They could do more of that with items like the Queen version of 'Man Made Paradise' and other items of that sort, but Freddie has been silenced. No, even the original Queen isn't completely dead because Greg Brooks or whoever it is in charge of the promised box-sets/anthologies is sitting on their ass, taking their sweet ass time about getting it done and to the public. Hell, half of the stuff I heard about has been leaked/stolen and already heard, usually in some crappy low quality version. Until they quit screwing around, real Queen still is promised to come along. No in my own true opinion because I feel Brian and Roger have promoted Queen with a pretty consistent intelligence, keeping the dignity and respectability of their legacy untarnished. I don't have the slightest interest in the play or cheap promotional crap like "Stone Cold Classics"(How freaking lame is that?). But I do applaud them first for brilliant solo careers that prove without question that Freddie and John's total sum exceeds no more, no less than half of Queen's worth. Second, for their insight and courage to beat all odds and actually cary on with a new singer in a way that is not only successful, but also 100% in good taste, extending Queen's future in a way that at one time didn't seem possible to anyone. |
rc 07.05.2006 13:52 |
the original band: yes, it is dead. Without Freddie and John, it's not "the band". However, I think Q+PR are fantastic and do a great job of keeping the music alive(though it could do it by itself!) about the music: it will never die. |
ImVerySlightlyMad 11.05.2006 07:52 |
No, Queen is alive. Queen will never die as long as Queen has it's loyal fans... Or, it might not die for a very, very, long time. |
