A while ago I mentioned something like this in Dan's Pakito thread. Qz is starting to get some nice topics (Saturn's in particular) and I hope this contributes to them a little bit. For any of you who have pets (and even those of you who don't, like me!) or animals that you are just simply close to or perhaps babysit, post some pictures of them! Take this topic as an open opportunity to show off your animal buddies. Not only post pictures of them, but tell us about them too. Can your pets do any interesting tricks? What are their personalities alike? Any good stories about your pet? I bet Janet will have a lot to post about, LOL. I'll start off with this collage. This is my "dog away from home." She's actually my grandparents' chihuahua, Jinjer. I babysit her very frequently sometimes for weeks at a time, and I visit my grandparents often so I get to see her a lot. I prefer big dogs to small dogs, but Jinjer is my exception. We are very close so I spoil her rotten. My grandparents were the ones who housetrained her, and other than that she only knows the two tricks I've taught her-sit and down (lay down). She's around five years old but chihuahuas have a very long life-span. She limps on her rear leg a lot. This is because once when she was little, my grandparents went out shoppnig, and at the time they had a cardboard fence thing set up. There were some strings on it and when my grandpa got home he found her hanging upside down by her leg caught in the string (she tried to jump it, I guess). He ran over to her and when he tried to untie her she bit him because she was scared. She's fine now but just has that limp. Sometimes Jinjer does this funny thing where she actually sticks her entire foot in her mouth which pretty much tells us that she needs her nails trimmed. She also does this thing where she licks her paws while shoving her hind foot in her ear. She's one of the smartest and sneakiest sly dogs you'll ever meet. She automatically knows when you are talking about her, even if you don't use her name. She also can jump wicked high. If you leave a hamburger on the table, it will be gone as quick as it takes for you to turn around. She basically swallows saussages whole so we have to be careful. She also plays a mean game of tug o war. She hates getting her picture taken, so I always try to cover the flash. Jinjer also loves to cuddle with my family. She does this thing where she looks up at you and sometimes uses her neck to give us hugs. She likes to lick our faces, and sometimes she'll manage to get her tongue in our mouths when we're chatting. Jinjer also loves belly rubs. Not to mention she's a great watch dog. Unfortunately, she hates strangers. She will go after most dogs, especially the ones that are ten times her size. And believe me, she can fight. I've seen her latch on to a dog's throat before that wouldn't leave her alone. Fortunately, we broke them up. Anyhow, despite all of this, Jinjer really gives us all of her love and protection. If someone pretends to "hit" me, she'll nip at them, and vice versa for any other family member. I think it's rather sweet. In conclusion: Jinjer is one tough rebel trapped in a little dog's body. link I'll post a few more pics of her in a little bit. |

I LOVE pet topics! Slinky is the oldest of my three cats. I found her one day while watering the garden at work. She was this tiny white spec of fluff that didn't move. I wasn't even sure what she was when I first saw her. Well, I inched over to her and she didn't budge. And when I picked her up, my heart nearly broke. She was so very sick. Her tiny eyes swollen shut, her nose bright pink and... well... let's say, 'thickly overflowing'. I took her to the vet who said her mother must have abandoned her because she was so sick. He said she was about 4 weeks old and only weighed 4 ounces. He gave me antibiotics and told me to pray. Guess what? She's going to be 12 years old on May 31st!! :-) She's chubby, happy and simply adores boxes of all shapes and sizes... especially ones with a view... link I'll post more of her and my other babies at another time. |

There's no story to my dog, but he's just cool, and he knows it....... He sleeps all day, parties all night with his other dog friends, he likes walks in the rain and barking at the mailman, no wait, not just barking, he likes biting the mailman to pieces. He is a Bichon Frise, his ancestors are notorious for winning many dog shows throughout many countries, i'm not sure if the person who sold us him were just making this up so that we would buy him........ He likes to eat broccoli. link I think i've posted this link on here quite a few times now.... |

Oh yea, I let them off their leash though for the Jacksonville concert. They peed on the stage a couple times, but it was forgiveable. :) |

Lisser wrote: Oh yea, I let them off their leash though for the Jacksonville concert. They peed on the stage a couple times, but it was forgiveable. :)LOL Here are my others babies - Ansel and Adams are brothers. We found them, or rather they found us, on a rainy August night. I put food and a giant box out on the patio for them and they stayed there all night. The next day, since they were still there, I brought them to the vet (I already had Slinky at that point and couldn't just take these guys in without getting them checked first). Well, they were healthy and friendly and have been mine for the past 8 years. This is a photo of them and Slinky 'protecting' my sweet baby, Tiffy, who at the time was dying of lung cancer. This picture was taken two days before she died - as if they knew, you know? link And here they are again... keeping warm on the radiator... link And my beautiful Tiffy at a healthier time... I loved her more than anything. Her's is a long story, but it ends sadly, so I can't get into it. Briefly - I rescued her fom the pound the day before she was to be put to sleep. She was five at the time. She rescued me (emotionally) time after time for the next 11 years. She was special... and she knew it. She was gorgeous... and she knew that too. See for yourself... link |

Here are pics of my dog. He looks innocent, but in fact he's a naughty one.. he ate my mobile phone twice, and a digital camera. He loves the ignore the orders and he loves to hunt kittens and other animals. Last week he killed a mole and a hare. Beside that, he loves to swim in muddy pools. Still I love him :P link link |

This is my dog Jake. He's nearly three years old. He's a bit frisky but he's calmed down a lot compared to what he was as a puppy. The only thing that can distract him from playing with you is food. He's a greedy little sod who waits under the table for something to fall from your plate. He enjoys going for walks, cuddling up beside me in the evenings and of course eating. He once ate horse droppings. I wouldn't let him lick me for a month. [IMG]link |

This is Ridley. He's a Cocker Spaniel who rescued me while I was at the county animal shelter looking for my lost cat, who, it turned out, split for Hollywood to be in a band. Ridley is totally into Van Halen and Van Hagar, and I think he invites all the female dogs in the neighborhhod over to party while I'm at work. I see a lot of charges on my credit card for home deliveries of pizza and Champagne that I didn't order, and once when I got home from work early, the guys from Van Halen were running out of my back yard carrying all their own gear, and all the female dogs in the neighborhood were standing around trying to act like everything was normal. When I walked in the front door, Ridley was using the vacuum cleaner to vacuum the air, like maybe he and his friends had been huffing a spliff or 12. An hour later he had the munchies and wanted me to go to the 7/11 to get him Doritos and a really big bottle of Diet Coke. It really ticks him off that humans have opposable thumbs and that he can't drive a car. He really likes watermelon. link |
