So, I asked NECA (the company making the Freddie figure)if they had any clue when we'll see a packshot or more promo shots, and they replied to me thus:
"Very soon - we are desiging the packaging now and we are doing concepts for a 2nd version of Freddie for late 2006 or early 2007/ Glad we could make you happy. We are thrilled with the response from Queen fans and from the mention on Brian May's site!"
So, there you have it folks! TWO Freddie Mercury figures! :D
I have several NECA movie figures and they do an excellent job, superb detail and likeness so I'm sure the Freddie figures will be of the same high quality.
Although I can do without the gimmicky 'sound activation' feature. Hope this aint on teh Freddie figure.
Let's hope the NEXT Freddie figure will be the TRUE Freddie....Pre-1977!!
YES!!! Longhaired Freddie fans unite!! Enough with the overdone "80's Freddie" look okay??

This comment may have been made in jest, yet consider this:
Despite looking horridly ill in TATDOOL, he always maintained a certain grace. I actually wouldn't say no to the idea (actually, a painting of him would be better).
But I definitely would prefer a 70's one, for sure.
I agree that it doesn't really look like Freddie to me.
I'm mostly disappointed by the bland pose. I wish McFarlane Toys would have done this. All the McFarlane statues look quite dynamic. This one is just freddie standing there....
zzzzzz...
I'd love to see a full Queen box set by McFarlane, like this. link
I sure hope my Malibu Ken likes him. Maybe we can get out our Darth Vaders and Luke Skywalkers and have a grand battle. Will Freddie be able to fit in the Millenium Falcon?
What exactly is the purpose of this figure? How am I suppose to 'play' with it? Does it have all body parts included, in proportion?
Just curious.
The second figure should be the "one night stand" edition.

This figure depicts 1986 Freddie, so it is the AIDS infected one - why do you think he looks sad? He knows the Magic Tour's his swan song. I too hope the 2nd version is 70's version black & white leotard Freddie with the enormous bulge.
