He sings it awful. This version simply sucks. |
liam 14.04.2006 08:39 |

I think it sounds beautiful in Live Killers especially how the audience joins in. Don't you think in Live Killers the audience make a bigger deal out of Mustapha than Bo Rap? |

Dennis Daja He sings it awful. This version simply sucks. I disagree I also think Don't Stop Me Now is done quite well. |
chauncey 14.04.2006 14:42 |
I agree icefire, that is my favorite version as well. Freddie ad libs the melody a bit in the second verse. Brian's solo is just fantastic. Very well done. |
Freya is quietly judging you. 14.04.2006 14:47 |
I don't really like Spread Your Wings live, I prefer the NOTW version. However, I think '39 on Live Killers is brilliant. |

I love listening to Spread Your Wings on Live Killers. The audience participation also helps bring it to life for me. Brighton Rock was also beautiful on it. |
brENsKi 14.04.2006 17:07 |
i don't think there's decent version of this song on the killers tour |
Poo, again 14.04.2006 17:11 |
Who cares, Let me Entertain You from Live Killers is simply amazing... |

never been a big fan of this song, studio version and the live version does nothing to change my opinion....might be johns worst song. |

Jeff Silveira wrote: never been a big fan of this song, studio version and the live version does nothing to change my opinion....might be johns worst song.Couldn't disagree more...easily one of Queen's best songs, I personally, like this song better than ANYTHING on the always overated Queen 2 album ( I can already hear the boo's ) ..... this MIGHT BE John's best song. |
Jeff Silveira 15.04.2006 01:06 |
whats so good about it? you really think this is better then "you're my best friend" "Another one bites the dust" "misfire" "in only 7 days" this isnt even better then "need your loving tonight" if it was so good then why did only reach #34 in the uk singles chart...the b-side, "sheer heart attack" should have been the A-side.....really bad song... |
SomebodyWhoLoves 15.04.2006 02:25 |
How can you guys say live killers suck? IMHO, Freddie in Live Killers > any concert after it! Here, in this 1978-1979 era, Freddie's voice is still similar to his 70's voice. After 1979. Freddie's voice gradually gets worse! |
brENsKi 15.04.2006 04:44 |
but LK is full of studio overdubs and remixing....you can hear most of the cahnges...if you listen to the bootlegs that the album came from |
Daveboy35 15.04.2006 05:34 |
I've have to agree with the orignal poster that this version of SYW is great but not the best ,but the Whole of side 3 is brilliant DON'T STOP ME NOW is simply better than the studio cut and IMO the best ever brighton rock solo i've ever heard. |
icefire 15.04.2006 05:36 |
well i am not good at identificating all those overdubbings and so. that must be why i find live killers great-sounding and don't get why it's being so criticized. as was mentioned impressive performance of LMEY or '39 or SYW and brighton rock just don't seem to match with the criticism to me. once again maybe it's because i don't notice all the 'clever bits' added to an original record. |
brENsKi 15.04.2006 05:48 |
as i said before....get some boots from this tour someone did a detyailed analysis of which tracks came from which gigs....listen to them...you CAN hear the additional stuff clearly the german legs, also paris and barcelona feature on the album...give em a listen....then you'll hear why these tracks come in for criticism DSMN does sound good...but i have to criticisms of it (it's one of my own perosnal fave queen tracks) - even with the "remixing" and "tarting up" - it still sounds kinda empty...like a whole instrument is missing...the original sounds so complete and full of life by comparison....and also - on afew of the "don't stop me's" Freddie is either rushing his vox or lisping so badly it sounds like he's drunk and slurrrrrring his words there's a couple of "Donshhhtoppme's" in there |
liam 15.04.2006 09:06 |
no he is lisping, the same kind of lisp sound heard on AOBTD at wembley. |

Alot of die hard Queen fans put "Spread your wings" in their personal top 10 favorite Queen song list. How a song charts doesn't mean jack shit. You are smart enough to know this right? 98% of Queen songs never charted higher then Britney Spears' "Hit me baby one more time" does this mean that Queen's lower charting songs, or ones that never charted, weren't quite as good as this Britney smash hit?? Let's use a little common sense while we are here. I think "Spread Your Wings" is a fantastic song. It is a song that never could have got off the ground without Freddie....I read a book one time (one of many Queen books) that John felt that Freddie should have taken a co-writer credit with him on this song....but Freddie refused, as he said the initial idea was John's. Which proves for the thousandth time that Freddie (no matter what the circumstance) usually got his way. As far as the other songs you have listed... It's all about personal opinion.. You write something as bold as "Spread your wings" isn't even as good as "Need your lovin." Says who?? You? Who are you? I don't give a shit if your John Deacon...if I like Spread Your Wings better, then thats how **I** feel... no matter what you "think". I think SYW is one of Queen's finest moments....its one of many of their great songs that attracts me to this band. Had Queen kept producing albums like Queen 2, then I would not be a fan... I like 3 songs on Queen 2, Freddie's "Nevermore", Freddie's "March of the Black Queen"....and get this...Roger's "Loser in the End." I think Brian's songwriting on Queen 2 is almost a joke. And here's another bomb.... While not a HUGE fan of the Hot Space album....I prefer "Dancer" on Hot Space...to any Brian May song on the Queen 2 album. I know I am on the minority on this.... I know Queen 2 is held by alot of you as Queen's best moment...... Personally I find that album severely overrated on this website, as I feel Queen have at least 8 albums better then Queen 2. That's my opinion...you'll have yours, I'll have mine. Scott |
Jeff Silveira 15.04.2006 22:19 |
i cant really take your opinion seriosuly because you said Brians songwriting is a joke on Queen 2, when 'some day one day" is one of brians finest songs ever. Plus you like "the loser in the end" which seems to fit for you. you bore me, and your opinion is pathetically lame. charts do matter by the way, but because brittany spears charts higher dosent mean its a better song, just means it charted better...but you are a fool(and you are a fool) if you think bands dont care what their single charts. you are allowed to have an opinion(as hitler and sadamm hussain were allowed to have) but having one isnt always a good thing.... |

I do not like any of Brian's songs on Queen 2. I think Brian's writing is usually the most consistant of the 4 members.... but on Queen 2, I don't care for Brian's songs. You must love them. Kick ass!! Glad to here it..I prefer Brian's writing on every other album better then this particular album. To be understood Jeff, you have to understand first.... you state things as if they are a fact recorded on public record somewhere, when in fact.... they are just the opinions of you, which makes them meaningless to everyone except you. If I am being honest, eventhough I am from the United States myself, I generally prefer to converse with the Europeans on websites like this....if you read Jeff, alot of people from Europe can't stand Americans because we are arrogant, closed minded hicks ....ie: our douche of a president. The bottom line this pissing contest started over my belief that Spread your Wings is a great song....and you, [insert typical hillbilly USA mentality] said "What's so great about it?" I assume the name Jeff Silveira is a name we should be seeing in lights pretty soon, as a song like "Spread Your Wings" is a nothing song to someone with the talent of the great Silveira. |
